let's talk about danny. danny is the big story everyone is talking about. this storm is still trying to organize itself. we do have the latest update from the national hurricane center. a little early, we get them quickly and put them on as soon as we have them. we have a center of circulation to the west of this storm. but all of the activity, this is the connection -- convection. all of the thunderstorms, when we start to see that happen, we'll start to see intenseification of this storm. right now, as of 5:00. tropical storm danny, still a tropical storm. sustained winds at 52 miles per hour. gusts up to 63, with a movement to the west at 2 miles per hour. that could very easily change, if this storm does not start to move a little quicker. how quickly it gets to our region. i want to show you this. as of the 11:00 update, had danny changing to a category 1 storm as it passed by the maryland shores. if you noticed, it never changed. this storm is having a tough time really getting organized. remaining a tropical storm as of the latest thinking in the lat

this is danny. it's being called disorganized danny, and for good reason. the center of circulation is actually over here on the left side. it's actually in this quadrant here. what you are seeing here are storms off to the east. what that's going to mean fours is that as this storm starts to progress to the north and northwest, the storms to the east stay away from the coastline. although the circulation is pretty close. this cone of probability is still going to couldn't pretty close passing by we expect about 140 miles off to the east of the east coast, and as, does it we're still going to see the high surf, the heavy waves, and potentially a very light storm surge, but as the storm moves on by it knocks that water back out so we're not talking about any really big problems with storm surge, but we will be talk about higher than average tide as it moves on by. the storm is going to be picked up by some other storms that are going to be moving into our region that we see a front moving by. it's all going to lift danny up and move it into the canadian mari

we'll zoom down and take a look at danny. very tough to figure out an exact location of where the center is. that's critical because where that center is, when the computer models put that in to run their equations, that will determine how far west that track is. very, very critical getting a well defined center. we have a couple days to narrow down the track. we are looking at partly cloudy skies. all the showers and thunderstorms remaining in new england with that front. for us tomorrow, here's your zone forecast. all six zones on our website, wusa9.com. upper 80s for oakland and dumfries. a little better chance to the west. less of a chance in dc. 86 in frederick. 87 tomorrow. isolated storms. it gets kind of tricky. showers and thunderstorms friday into saturday. the game is right here on channel 9 in hd. hope it's not really super wet. we'll have to just wait and see what danny does. and then after everything goes through, danny and the cold front, it gets much cooler. we are in the 70s and barely 80 next wednesday. >> t

as far as what is going on with danny, well, the news is no news. not much going on with danny. look at the past 12 hours. danny is just kind of sitting there not doing much of anything. just becoming very disorganized. now there is a couple things that you can see on this map that are players on our weather. danny is not really a player because it's going to stay off the coast. what is a player? remember yesterday i was talking about the trough of low pressure down in the northern gulf of mexico. it's feeding in a huge amount of tropical moisture. and there is a frontal system out to the west. s that front makes its way towards the east, it's kind of a squeeze play. it's taking the moisture and squeezing it in here to the midatlantic. that's what is causing the shower and thunderstorm activity. the front will gradually push it off the eastern seaboard. but there is an indication that that front may become stuck right off the eastern seaboard. so when we get to the seven-day forecast, that is a hopeful forecast that could change. this is what the national hurricane center thinks
