darcy spencer is live in shaw with more on how he is being remembered tonight. darcy? >> reporter: erika, this appears to be nothing more than a senseless tragedy. by all accounts, the people we spoke to who are out here yesterday, they say he was an inintended target in this shooting. it happened in broad daylight right outside the small metro station. the killer is still on the loose. as you said, we are learning a lot more about this victim. just been the last hours, a friend placed a bouquet of flowers where he was shot. the victim was identified as matthew shah lon ski, just 23 years old, from ohio, a 2014 graduate from american university and a member of the phi kappa fi fraternity, currently working at deloitte consulting. he was snot a hail of gunfire yesterday. it was 5:00 in the afternoon. police are still looking for the gunman who took off in a burgundy chrysler 300 with maryland tags. >> no good. the city should be free and safe for the citizens. shooting and all those things, i don't think it's a good idea. >> i think people should stop streaming period.

darcy spencer broke the story and joins us now with new reaction to those safety concerns. darcy? >> reporter: jim, we have been told that they are not able to lock these panel doors, again, because of a key that might be hard for firefighters to locate that key. well, we spoke to the firefighters' union today and they say this isn't really much of a problem at all. the union that represents first responders in the district says it supports addressing a safety issue on some metro buses that allows anyone to pull an emergency switch that shuts off power to the bus. the union says the panel that holds the sbiwitch on the outsi of the bus could be equipped with locks that firefighters could pry open in case of emergency. at least twice recently, sources confirm juveniles have disabled buses on crime scenes, leaving drivers and passengers stranded and with no radio communication. >> this is like getting a slim jim to get in your car when it is locked or what have you, i think there are ways around it so they should take precaution. >> reporter: in lit of recent incident, officials are

news4's darcy spencer takes a closer look at the families impacted. >> i still hurt. i still hurt. >> reporter: in the shaw neighborhood of northwest washington stands a memorial to one of d.c.'s unsolved murder victims. tamara gliss was killed when she was hit by stray gun fire not far from the convention center on memorial day. her mom is angry, no arrests have been made. three months after her death. >> not only are we feeling bad, you know, she has a son. she has brothers. it just hurts. >> reporter: there have been more than 100 lives lost on the streets of the nation's capital this year. a double digit increase over last year. gliss is just one of the grieving mothers who can't rest knowing a killer is on the loose. >> american university student got shot. then we see all of the police presence in everything. but just like i said, my daughter's case is still unsolved and you hear less about it. >> reporter: at the place where gliss lost her life, right across from the kennedy rec center, the recent violence prompted police to set up a temporary post. her mom say

darcie spencer joins us with all the excitement. darcie? >> that's right. the little cup is spending its first night here at the national zoo with its mom, if you're like me, you've been glued to the panda cam all night, you can't get enough of watching this little cub with his mom, unfortunately, the cam has gone down at different times today. the zoo officials addressed that at the press conference saying so many people are logging on from all across the world, they've had a hard time keeping the cameras up. i can tell you watching the camera, this little cub is active. you can hear the newborn cub squeaking on the panda cam. >> amazing. there's no other word for it, because there is nothing really to describe watching a baby panda. >> i've waited 44 years. >> people from all across the world were watching on the panda cam as she gave birth to the tiny cub inside her den at the national zoo. the zoo team says it's exciting. >> we're very cautious. you remember that in 2012 we lost a cub after six days, so let's keep our fingers crossed. but this is still

news4's darcy spencer found her way to the bridge to tell us what to expect. darcy? >> reporter: well, that's right. that's what we were asking this morning where is this bridge? but chances are if you came down to see the cherry trees, you have walked, driven over the bridge, but you didn't realize it was called the inlet bridge. this is ohio drive, so imagine that beautiful views of the thomas jefferson as well as the monument. take a look over here. a guy is doing some fishing off the bridge here morning. it is very popular. it is going to shut down right around 6:30 this evening and it will stay closed all weekend long. what that means you won't be able to drive over the bridge, drive your bicycle or walk over the bridge because it's getting some much needed repairs. this bridge is over 100 years old. it is in need of some rehab. we are showing you some video we shot before the sun rose this morning. even in the hours we could see people over here driving. some joggers out early this morning so this could be an inconvenience for people planning to come down here

that's where news4's darcy spencer is with the latest details. darcy? >> reporter: yeah, if you were in this area or around little falls parkway and river road earlier today, you saw all that police activity. it was all about this carjacking. we want to show you some video that you're only gonna see here on news4 of that arrest. now, police arrested the suspect wearing a red shirt after searching for him in bethesda and northwest washington here this morning. police say there was an armed carjacking. that happened about 10:30 this morning over on loughboro road over in northwest. the suspect then led police on a pursuit around american university into bethesda. that's where the suv, a honda crv crashed into a wooded area on little falls parkway. that's near river road. he got out of the suv and ran away. now, someone from wtop radio happened to be in the area and saw police pursuing this suv. >> i was over on massachusetts avenue by american university when i noticed there was a police chase going on and immediately caught my attention. i was going back

news4's darcy spencer will join us in ten minutes. >>> the ashley madison hack is hitting pretty close to home here in d.c. nbc's edward lawrence is join us now from capitol hill with the latest on this. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, aaron. yes, some of the i.p. addresses to the house and the senate. we are learning more about the consequences for some of the people who use the ashley madison website. hackers released on thursday more information about the folks who used the website. 13,000 e-mail addresses had military or government endings. the military is now investigating that. it's against military law to cheat on your spouse. so there could be some criminal charges in place for those if they're found service members cheating on their spouse. it affects departments of state, justice, treasury, energy and transportation. most of the e-mail addresses were attached to gmail and yahoo! accounts. we're talking about 28 million men, 5 million women. some federal workers used their workstation at work and their office systems to access the website. now they found those i.p. ad
