we'll start with first alert meteorologist darren peck.g some light rain which can help with the dry conditions. >>> it could. it's just not going to be a big impactful rain. it's probably not a lot to be measurable. but in the north bay we are getting rain on the road, light showers through sonoma. shades of yellow and orange make this look better than it actually is. but it's still good because it's heavy enough that the windshield wipers will be on. roads will be slick. that's not the best for morning commute but it's nice to see rain getting to the ground. if we track this, showers will fall apart through the late morning. by about 11:00 they're trying to get to the golden gate southward but don't really hold together. we probably won't get a lot out of this that's measurable. an earthquake this morning at 3:39. it was only a 3.9. it was in the north bay, geysers, a geothermal area where minor earthquakes like this are not out of the normal. there was no damage but if you felt something at 3:39, you were not alone. it will stay cloudy

let's check in with darren peck. >>> we are not done with all that entirely. there is not a lot of that but you just need to be in one of the few places that sees it for quite an impressive show. let me show you what's on high def doppler. steady in the north bay. you will see showers in the north bay that are widespread, looks more impressive on high def doppler than it is. the winner so far is santa rosa, less than 0.2 of an inch of rain. that leaves out the side of the story of the isolated thunderstorms which have developed. futurecast sees that line and watch what happens. now through the afternoon it doesn't change. we keep the chance of light rain, maybe isolated thunderstorm mixed in. overnight things quiet down. but it picks back up again tomorrow. there is a head fake because we start tomorrow with a nice break in the clouds. you are looking at blue sky at noon. that means more direct sunlight. that means adding more energy to the mix. by the afternoon tomorrow, isolated thunderstorms. they're very few and far between. most of us will not experience

we begin with first alert meteorologist darren peck. it's going to be windy along with rain. >>> today is a perfect example of why we are doing first alert weather days. you step outside and you will think there is nothing going on. >> what you talking about? >> yes. but it is going to change and you are going to see the winds pick up once we are past about 1:00. first alert forecast focus, the wind advisory which hasn't started yet. the advisory starts at 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 at night. the focus of the time frame will be from 1:00 until about 6:00 today. that's when the strongest winds will happen. this is not going to be equal bay area wide. it's going to be noticeably stronger in the heart of the bay, particularly along the peninsula where we can see 45- mile an hour gusts today. that's the kind of gust that can take a tree down. east bay you might see that. the winds in general if you are in the inland valleys, it will be breezy but it won't be strong enough that we are worried about trees going down for most of us. however some of

we will kick it off with darren peck with a look outside. >>> good morning.force tower is looking at one of the places that's a great example of where the wind is this morning. mount tam, a beautiful shot across sausalito. you see sausalito spilling into richardson bay in the foreground. then behind that, east peak of mount tam, that's the location where that censor is reading the wind gust at 34 miles an hour right now. look how much stronger in the north bay mountains. 73-mile an hour gust in the mountains of sonoma. nobody lives on mount st. helena, nobody lives on mounted diablo. what's it like where we live? much better, not nearly that strong. the wind advisory is up there, not here. however it is going to get breezy today. watch the rest of the screen light up. not as strong but you have to 20 to 25 wind gust today which is pretty much where it was yesterday. it will be a different direction but yo that. breezy day, down right windy for the next hours in the mountains. that's why the advisory is until 10:00. we got a break it was relatively santa rosat

darren, how is it feeling? i had a little bit of a chill. >>> when you lose the clouds like we did, temperatures go down a little bit. it could feel a little cooler. better news might be the fact that you will not have to struggle with the fog. it's kind of a nice trade off in that way. there are still a few clouds just hanging out over the east bay. but we are not looking at reports of fog. santa rosa, it's clear. that's the first time we have done that in the last several days. there are some low clouds out there. you see them filling in the bay and certainly over here for the tri valley, you might have clouds. but it doesn't look as impressive as it was. today will be sunny, warmer, and less windy. we are going back to the low 70s for daytime highs for inland spots, mid 60s for the bay. these numbers have come up to about average, maybe a degree or two above average for this time of year. it's nice to see low 70s showing up. there is a bigger warm up coming not only for tomorrow and saturday. but next week.

let's get the first alert meteorologist darren peck. >> the first half of it will look a lot like today. cloudy in the morning and it will probably look at this again on the golden gate bridge tomorrow and if you look at where the clouds are, see other melting back we will get into sunshine were a lot more of us through the afternoon. then things will get interesting as we look ahead to sunday. and we can already say that now using the high resolution forecast taking us into sunday at 1:30. it does not rain for most of the day on sunday. but that sunday around sunset and into the evening, we will get widespread showers. this will be the best rain we've seen so far this year. that is not to say how much because we haven't had a whole lot. when you look at the rainfall totals sunday night into monday on the high side a possibility now, it looks even better than it did this morning. we could see close to one inch of rain in this pattern. for the 24 hour period from sunday night until monday. i will have more on that and the complete forecast in just a minute. >>> thank you so much. happeni
