good morning. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we are still trying to gather more information about what happened. here's what we do know. there was a shooting in the overnight hours in richmond right here behind us. right now you can see over toward our left there is homicide detectives that recently arrived over here along with officers and patrol cars. they have closed off this portion of neven avenue. we know two people were shot. a man and a woman. the woman died from her injuries. richmond police have closed off this portion of the street as they conduct this inside investigation. several of the victims have gathered here. i was able to speak with some of them very briefly off camera. all they could tell me was that the woman who died here was a victim in her mid 20s. they were not sure of her exact age. she lived in this apartment complex behind where the shooting happened. the apartment complex they are looking at. they are not sure where the victim was with the man. they are still trying to wrap their hands around exactly

the victim wanted that to happen. >> reporter: good morning, dave.n't cover suicides on our broadcast. this one is different. it's being called a felony. it happened right out here in the middle of the road. if you look closely you can seat orange markings sprayed there last night as part of the police investigation. police say they received several 911 calls last night around 9:00 p.m.. when they arrived there was a man lying in the road. he was pronounced dead at the scene. after interviewing several people police decided that this was a suicide. the man intentionally laid down in the road and was hit by two vehicles. the vehicles did not stop and that is why this is not just a suicide but a felony hit and run. >> first he was hit by two cars. vehicle descriptions we have is a small silver sedan and a smaller black suv. both cars ran over him and left the scene. >> reporter: police closed the road for two hours while the on scene investigation was taking place. police are trying to identify the suicide victim that is a hispanic man in his 30s. poli
