i'm dave clark -- good morning. i'm dave clark. it's wednesday, june 8th. >>> overnight, there were two overnight fires in berkeley -- in the berkeley hills, both on cragmont avenue. tara moriarty has more. >> reporter: given the proximity of this fire to the other one and the timing, those were sort of the red flags that alerted firefighters to get an arson investigator out here. now, the arson investigator is working right now and he believes that the fire started on the back end of this car. you can see where it actually melted the tires completely off and how it spread upwards on the front of the house, threatening the home. now, firefighters were on their way to the car fire when they noticed another fire less than a block away. these blazes happened within minutes of each other. just before 1:00 this morning on the 4 u.n -- on the 400 and 500 block of cragmont. it's a very quiet neighborhood. in examining the car, the investigator said there was no obvious source of ignition. >> a lot of times we have to keep on looking, bein

i'm dave clark. >> good morning. i'm pam cook. time now 6:30. >>> in the news now all the lanes of northbound 880 are open again after an overnight accident caused a fuel spill. take a look what happened out there earlier this morning just a couple hours ago. chp says the driver of this car rear ended one car then crashed into a big rig that caused both fuel tanks on the big rig to blow up spilling fuel on the freeway. cal trans crews spent the whole morning cleaning up the mess. police are still searching for the person who they say caused that accident. >>> the man accused of beating giants fan bryan stow outside dodgers stadium may now be tied to an attempted murder in nevada. los angeles television station reports giovanni ramirez is possibly linked to a shooting near las vegas two months before the attack at dodgers stadium. police files show a man believed to be ramirez wearing a blue dodger cap shot and injured a man inside a home in henderson. the shooting was reportedly in retaliation for the 2005 death of ramirez's daugh

i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. this morning dozens of police officers will have to turn in their badges. claudine wong just got information from the mayor. >> reporter: the mayor told me he agrees. the department does not have enough officers. instead of letting them go they need to hire more but they can't afford it. the city will say good-bye to almost 70 san jose police officers. this is the last of the fiscal year. the mayor said their jobs couldn't be saved. they couldn't sacrifice it for the sake of these jobs but did say they did everything they could. >> the council worked hard to avoid this but we don't have the money. we increased the budgets, but everybody else took 10% cuts. we took money to avoid as many layoffs as we could. >> reporter: this comes as san jose is dealing with the highest homicide rate in years, 28. the union president said in a letter published in the mercury news that that makes these layoffs quote the most dangerous thing san jose could have done. i asked the mayor about that very is

i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori tori campbell. it's tuesday, june 21st. about 30 minutes ago, firefighters put out a large fire at a fraternity house. allie rasmus is live with more. >> reporter: that fraternity house is on 11th street. right here behind me you can see some of the firefighters are packing up to clear the scene. later on, it will be the work of the investigators to go inside the building to figure out what exactly started this fire. now, firefighters started gaining control of this fire and within the last hour we've seen them shut the hoses off and get ready to pack up and leave. the building where this started, this fire started here at this house, just after 3:00 this morning. newschopper2 was overhead after the fire broke out. >>> at 4:00 this morning, the firefighters called for aid. shortly after they arrived, firefighter also to go outside the building and tackle it from the outside. as the fire spread through the building, it just became too dangerous to fight the fire from inside

i'm dave clark. >> i'm tori campbell. it's monday, june 27th. >>> this morning, we have -- we have new video that shows bryan stow arguing with another man at dodger stadium. but it's not the man los angeles police have arrested for the attack on stow. allie rasmus is live with a closer look at the video. >> reporter: good morning. i've been checking in with los angeles police since 5:00 this morning to try to find out what, if any, impact this new video could have on the bryan stow beating. the officer i've been speaking with say so far police have not had a chance to take a good look at the video. according to tmz, it was released just after midnight. the video was taken from inside dodger stadium on march 31st. in the video you can see a man in a dodgers' jersey standing up and arguing with stow. stow is seated object left and -- on the left and he appears to be trying to calm stow down. while stow was at dodgers stadium, he sent a text to his friends about a hostile atmosphere. this man in the video in the dodgers' je
