dave munsey is tracking hurricane matthew and joins us >> well we are taking a look at it and to see what's going on as far as the moisture content, there is a lot of flooding with it. and there is a lot of wind with this particular storm as well. a lot going on in the united states across the country. as we get a look at this storm, you can see that it is now a category 3 with the winds at 130 miles per hour. so it slowe but something interesting about this storm even though it has slowed down in its movement out on the northwest at 13, you can see, look at that curve that it's going to take after it goes through the carolinas. that is very interesting because as you can see it is headed back in the direction of miami. so we will keep our eye on that. let's take a look at the future cast now. roll it along and you can see, look at melbourne, that is probably tomorrow morning the area that is going to be particular hurricane. and then that will stay not only on the shoreline but a little bit on land as well as it heads up to charleston. charleston has a history of flooding in heavy r

dave munsey joins us with a look at the forecast a little bit temperatures are out of whack right now. a lot of these temperatures are up a couple degrees from the seasonal norm. you can see the 90 at sky harbor. the norm is 88 as would glendale. you see the 88 showing up and 87's showing up. there are a couple of 90's on the board as well. also, these temperatures to the north of us are rung -- running sedona at 79. 77 in payson. 79 at kingman. take a look at the forecast for tomorrow. it's going to be a little bit warmer in a couple of areas by a few degrees. you can see that 92 at sky harbor. 93 at goodyear. 92 at apache junction. 92 in ahwatukee. take a look at these, temperatures stay up around areas of the north coming down a here and there. as we look at the three-day forecast, we go into the mid 90's. we're going to run about seven or eight degrees above the seasonal norm here at least through friday. however, there is a change. i'll have that for you coming up. >>> new information about a massive fire at a condo complex over the weekend in the east valley. the new clues inves

dave munsey is tracking somewhat unusual stretch of weather for this time of year. >> it would certainly be unusual to get a 100-degree reading at this time of year. things are a little bit iffy on that. however, let's take a look at it, shall we? the third warmest in october, a question mark there, because october is not over yet. in 2001, 83.7 the average, number two, the second warmest october, 1988, 82.4 degrees, and then number three, 2016, 80.9. we are forecasting more. in fact we have had 90-degree and here are three more, tomorrow 98 degrees, getting awfully close to 100. it does back off on friday and saturday, but it is still in the 90s. that 98-degree reading very easily could hit 100. we'll have more weather coming up in just a few minutes. >> coming up, there is no cure for cancer, but there could be a cancer vaccine just on the horizon and available in the u.s. >>> and on the day donald trump cuts the ribbon on hotel in washington, dc, he loses a little bit of his real estate in chicago. we'll tell you about that. and you have seen the polls this election, there are new one

dave munsey is tracking the forecast for us and joins us live now with a look at the weather and what it's going to be like. >>> lot going on with this weather a lot happening today as a matter of fact. let's take a look at the informaion as it rolls out here. we are looking at, of course, 100-degree temperature. the latest 100-degree temperature ever. 100-degree temperature was october 23 in 2003. and october 2016, 90 degrees or warmer, 23 straight days. here is the old record, 98. that back in 2001. and the 99th time that we hit 100-degrees in 2016. and now take a look at it. yeah, we will have some more 90s to add on to that. we have 90s right through sunday. sunday the day before halloween at halloween and what's going on there. temperatures drop off dramatically getting us into halloween. by 5:00. 0 degrees. by 7:00 p.m. 78 degrees. and then sleepy time at 9:00 at 74 degrees. so those temperatures will come back into the 80s for highs on monday. we will have the ten day forecast for you in just a few minutes. >>> all right, thank you. well, with temps hitting 100 degrees and hall

. >>> dave munsey is tracking the hurricane for us tonight as it creeps closer to the east coast and he joins us live with a look at the storm's projected path. >> it has lost just a little bit of strength over the last couple of hours here. it is a category 3 storm with winds at 115 miles per hour. and as you can see here storm system is going to pack a lot of moisture with it as it travels up the coast line. the storm surge is expected to be 3 to five feet and the rain anywhere from 8 to 15 inches in some areas and then take a look at that track. all the way through saturday, that's all the way through the south carolina and the north carolina coast. even though the track of that hurricane is off to the east at about the time it gets there. of rain and the storm surge in the coastal areas is going to be devastating in some areas maybe in those outer islands. we will take a closer look at what's going on in your weather and across the country coming up. >>> okay, we will see glue few minutes. the arizona democratic party today endorsed prop 205. the measure to regulate marijuana lik

dave munsey joins us live now with more. hurricane category 2 dave, still very strong. >> it is still a category 2. a category 2 is from 95-110 miles an hour. so we are looking at 105 miles an hour, so it remains a category 2 storm. it remains still to be a very wet storm. 105 miles an hour, still moving north at 12 miles an hour. and as you can see, these are the ending slats. this is what they expect it to do as it comes back around and makes its turn. this is what it is going to be looking like as it goes through the weekend. it is coming up, making that little bitty turn up there by raleigh, and it's continuing, but take a look at it. right there in between savannah and charleston at this time. look at the moisture that it is putting forth as it comes through. some areas picking up as much as 16 inches of rain as this system pulls through, and you can see the track it's going to take, and then that moisture is going to continue to roll on. it goes a little south of new york and finds itself up north of maine. so that's no

. >>> someone who tells a joke and is never uncomfortable is dave munsey. he can do it all, the weather, deliver jokes. it's bone dry in southwest arizona, but not the case in ohio. >> you guys know all joking across the country here, but a nice little front crossing the country is helping to cool things down a little bit. however, there are a few things with the front that we should be thinking about as well. there's cleveland. there's columbus for you, and as we zoom in more, the youngstown area picking up almost four inches of rain with flood advisories and warnings throughout the area. there has been a little bit of flooding in the area already. one of the things it's doing, however, it is helping to calm things you can see these warm temperatures. i include arizona, even though those are not on that map. still clinging on, look at that big area here still hanging on there. but also look at this here. these are fifties up here, and they are headed down in this direction, or at least the cool air that is creating that, and then take a look at what happen

and dave munsey has been tracking the hurricane. he joins us live with the latest. >> this has already been a category 5. it could back to being a category 5, especially when it gets over the bahamas. the water is very, very warm flat land, so they would provide it certainly something to grow on. and then look how slow it's moving. here's miami right here. this is the area that it's going to be in on wednesday at 8:00 in the evening. the winds are predicted to be at 125 miles an hour at that time. they are 145 miles an hour it at this time. and you can kind of see the projected movement. turn to the left has really got everybody just a little bit nervous because they are wondering how much of a turn to right now, just skimming the shoreline here all up and down that eastern seaboard. they think that that may grab on in a few hours and come on shore. at this point in time, once again, these are computer models that are giving them this look, so as it starts to make its move, get a little bit closer, we are going to know more and more

. >> dave munsey joins us now with a live look at the radar. >> well, john, we did expect to see some moisture earlier in the day today, but it is not yet in the valley yet. as you can see, on the west side, things are getting a little bit close. we also have an encroachment from the valley as well. there is some movement from the east but it is getting away from us at this time. here's the stuff on the east side that i was talking about. that, and you can see it sliding on up here but that stuff is going to move on. it's the stuff right here in the west that we are keeping our eye on. you see that line of storms over there and we'll take a look at those storms coming in. it is just a line of storms coming in. it is this line in the wickenburg area that we are keeping our eye on. we do continue to see moisture moving into the northern portion of the state, williams flagstaff area might see something a little bit later, and you can see a few storms moving up here toward globe. but right here in phoenix, the most encroachment that we are watching is on the west side, and we will keep ou

. >>> your accuweather forecast with dave munsey on fox 10 news. and dave, it felt like the monsoon really got active towards the end of the season. >> last a couple of years, we have had september is a really big rain month, a big storm month. yeah, you're right, it did this month again. things got fired up. we had that come through and screw up everyone's patio, going without a good one. there's still some moisture around, not over yet, probably over for the valley but still some moisture around the state, nice looking friday night for everybody as we head on into the weekend, 82 in scottsdale, look at that, 78 in cave creek, 78 in fountain hills, 82 in chandler. at goodyear, 84 degrees. and here's the moisture we were talking about. there's not much out there, but kind of around through the state on the day today. take a look here at a little bit down south. it evaporates very rapidly. stuff on the west side is gone. as we look up north, there's still a little patch here and there and a little bit trying to get into the eastern portion. but that'

. >>> your exclusive accuweather forecast with dave munsey on fox 10 news. >> yeah. >> and it will continue to be for another day or so here, but we do see some change coming. starting sunday, we'll start bringing some moisture into the state, and maybe monday, tuesday get some rain in here. >> the forecast is looking nice. >> looking good, we have got some 80 temperatures in it, in fact it's 81 degrees right now, winds out of the east southeast at about eight miles an hour. take a look at the city here, yep, temperatures not too 86 degrees at scottsdale, 78 up at cave creek, we have 76 degrees in surprise right now. high pressure just going to kind of skirt along here, keep things warm for a day or so and then move on out of here, and then we have a couple of systems that are working their way in from the northwest and they are going to turn things around a little bit. we start the futurecast on saturday because we couldn't find anything up until that period. we see a little bit of something happens sunday as we get into the day here, a lot of moisture around and that will translate into c

. >> dave munsey is tracking it. what's the story? >> we have a category 3 hurricane right now. the winds aren't die -- are dying down a little bit. once they get below 111, if they, do it will be a category 2. it hangs in at a category 3 right now. there is the winds at 115 miles per hour. and as we get you to look down friday is where we are looking at this thing at 130 miles per hour again. so they are expecting it to pick up a little bit of steam and there is the line as it lines up with friday. late on thursday evening and probably a little after midnight it is gng contact. not necessarily the eye, but the outer reaches of this hurricane will make its first contact. if there is any good news in this, it's the curve here. however, once it makes the curve, they aren't really sure what it's going to do. let's follow the moisture and see what's going on and we will take you up to friday and you can see the eye stays offshore. we get to friday about noon and then we take you up to saturday here it comes as it gets into a lot of moisture coming with this storm. there is going to

dave munsey tracking matthew and he joins us live with a look at the storm's path. this one is looking like it will take direct aim. >> this one is an interesting one. there are all kinds of things going on here. and just watch here for a minute and just see some of the unusual things that are happening with this category 4 killer storm. what's going on as far as the numbers are concerned. we are still looking at that storm system in the range of a category 4 and you can see this is one of the strange things that i have been talking about. take a look at this loop right here as it rolls on up north of florida and into the carolinas and then back out into the ocean and then swinging back. could this storm hit florida twice? that would be a possibly. let's take a look here as we put the map into motion for of west palm beach they are looking at that as a possible landing area that eye is about 200 miles, 20 miles wide. charleston, the city that floods very easily could get caught up in this system as well. and also we want to give you a look at what a category 4 is. s

dave munsey is here to explain. >> reporter: we do have heat out there but there is something happening. you can see the cooler temperatures up here but the warmer temperatures have been in place for quite a while and still hanging in there. i mean warmer temperatures like these two. warmer than phoenix today. we've got dallas at 92. 93 in houston. we only had 90 in phoenix on the day today. take a look at all of these temperatures above the seasonal norm. near 90 and another one down here. as we look at tomorrow, you can see one of the 90's remains and line. we still see a few problems with this. look at these numbers here, these numbers are not that high but they are going up tomorrow by a degree or two. we still have a little bitty problem. as kari mentioned, a problem here as well. the norm is 88. take a look at this. we'll have more coming up. >> i felt that during my hike i thought about you. >> reporter: i bet you did. >> it was all good. >>> did you know having a certain job may make you likely to cheat on your significant other? >>> plus, samsung is setting up show shops across

. >> dave munsey has been tracking hurricane matthew. >> reporter: we are tracking as it comes. you can see it as a category three a with matthew at this time. this hurricane is moving along slow that is why it is putting so much rain down. it is kind of lining up with miami coming in late wednesday into thursday and then you can see thursday in the evening and by friday it gets into the jacksonville area. you can see the track as it makes that little curve. that is still somewhat of a tossup. this is what it looks like with the moisture. i stopped it because i want to show you this. this is a point of interest. take a look as it climbs up coming inland and once again working its way across. now, what we're showing you over here that is a tropical storm. that is nicole with winds at 70 miles an hour. nicole going to get involved with it. some people are concerned about nicole and we will keep an eye on nicole as well asthma through. we'll have more weather coming up. >> we'll keep an eye on that. you can keep check on hurricane matthew on fox10phoenix.com. >>> turning to our oth

. >> dave munsey is tracking the hurricane tonight. >> reporter: is it expected to be a strong hurricane? >> reporter: this is not losing any strength, kari. along. it is still a category four hurricane. the winds have died down a little bit here at 130 miles an hour but look by thursday, they expect those winds to be exactly the same. you can see the track and how close it will come to miami. also, you can see here. this is thursday late in the day so it will be moving along very, very slowly. a slow-moving hurricane that has a lot of power and moisture can be a that is why they are preparing for rain throughout this entire area. also, they are preparing for rain in the outer banks of the carolinas that is where they expect the hurricane to cross over the top of that is going to be a real significant part of this entire storm right here, especially if the storm surge stays at 10 feet. if they continue to get 8-15 inches of rain. we'll have more with big storms country. beautiful day here. that is all coming up in weather. >>> it is the most dangerous intersection in all of chandler. how

. >> dave munsey is joining us with how long and how unusual the heat is. it is going to stick around for a while, dave? >> reporter: it is going to be around until the end of the week. there is a trend with cooler hair starting to move into the demarcation line between the cool air and the warm air. you can see it further south and we show you where the records are being made today. you can see the temperatures in the 80's and 90's. however, unlike yesterday, two of the temperatures were warmer than our high that didn't happen today. missed it by one degree. as we get a look at what the forecast highs are, you can see the demarcation line, not only goes down buddyings into a couple of areas area that we are looking at as far as the temperatures continuing to be on the warm don't get me wrong, these people are enjoying this. they are playing golf, hiking, swimming, they are having a lot of fun with it. now, here we are with our temperatures that are sort of like theirs but a little out of hand for us. the norm is 88. this is where we are gone to be for the n
