here's abc's david muir. >> reporter: many call them the angels in the sky.ng this pandemic. the nonprofit angel flight northeast, based at north andover, massachusetts, linking volunteer pilots with communities in need. delivering vital protective gear to hospitals in massachusetts, new york, new jersey. bringing coronavirus test kits to minnesota. food, water, and clothes brought to navajo communities. children and their families helped too. the cuny family from boston needed to get to california. mom had landed a new job. their 9-year-old son, john, battling cancer, and they did not know how they would fly him there. they say the angels swooped in. and his mother, elizabeth, is grateful. >> how we would get there seemed impossible, with covid, with john. >> reporter: the angels got the cunys to california. the nonprofit has flown about 400 flights since this pandemic began, 15 states. volunteer pilot richard jacobs just back from a flight, checking with us from a windy runway in massachusetts. >> in these covid times, we may lose track of the fact that the

here's abc's david muir. >> reporter: so many of you at home reacting to our story.s the america in so many communities. the peaceful protesters welcomed by the officers. in bellevue, washington, police chief steve mylett and a demonstrator embracing. in miami, you could see the line of law enforcement, and then the moment it all changes. a highway patrol trooper walking up to this woman, hugging her. she was grateful. >> i love you, man. i love you, man. >> reporter: in new york's times square, an officer who was kneeling, raising his arms. a demonstrator then shaking his hand. the two then hugged. you could hear the cheers erupting in the crowd. [ cheers and applause ] it was here we introduced you to genesee county sheriff chris swanson in flint, michigan, who told the demonstrators there, we are here for you, asking, what can we do? when they said, march, he did. what he said -- >> the only reason we're here is to make sure that you got a voice, that's it. don't think for a second that he represents who these cops are from all over the county and around the natio
