i'm joined now by "washington post" reporter david nakamura. good morning.st off, the president and what is expected to be announced today when it comes to dealing with those unaccompanied children coming across the u.s./mexico border here. what do you hear in washington, d.c., in terms of details of what this announcement might be? >> so far, richard, we haven't seen the formal letter from the white house which will come out today. but the white house has said they want more than $2 billion. that will go to probably more patrol agents, lawyers and judges to represent these women and children that are coming. they're trying to -- more detention space to handle them and probably more care. the administration obviously is a bit overwhelmed by this influx, but they want to find ways to process these cases more quickly. those who apply for a sigh lum wi asylum will get a hearing. if not, they'll be put into deportation proceedings. >> it's a tough deal for both the president and congressmen when looking at rushing out needy children, or the perception thereof, b
