days which ukrainian officials say are provocations by russian forces. it's spiking fears that moscow's war could spread into moldova. randi kaye is in moldova for us. you visited villages bordering transnistria. what are you hearing from people? >> reporter: that's right, per in the capital of moldova and the border is about 45 minutes from here. the first village we went to is the closest village to the border with transnistria and nobody there, not a single resident would speak with me, possibly out of fears that they are so close to the russian troops in the breakaway region. one woman told us, the less you talk, the more you live. that is a direct quote from her. the only person who did speak with us was a temporary resident, a refugee from ukraine, a woman named tonya, and she is concerned about a russian invasion. she does not like living so close to that breakaway region, she feels very uncomfortable and is looking to get to poland or somewhere safer. we moved about 10 kilometers away and there people were much more willing to speak with us. we spoke to a young man who said he's concerned, but if there's an invasion, he's going to stay and f
