i'm john berman in daytona beach this morning. alisyn camerota joins me from new york. the breaking news this morning, hurricane dorian, it's on the move. finally. about a hundred miles -- out there in the atlantic. that storm is finally moving up the florida peninsula off the coast but as you can see, we are feeling the effects here. wind gustshigher than 60 miles an hour. the rain. keeping pouring down as the outer bands pass over the coast. it is causing serious problems here. thousands without power this morning. and the forecast has it moving to, near, or on charleston, south carolina, maybe north carolina as well. so 200,000 people or more have already moved out of the low-lying areas there. of course that's what the storm is doing now. what it has already done is simply devastating. the bahamas finally assessing the enormous historic damage there. we know that seven paem haeople died. that's just the initial count. you can expect it to rise. rescues have been going on nearly around the clock but they're extremely difficult because the conditions haven't improved

here's daytona beach down to west palm beach and ft. lauderdale.gh tonight and 6:00 a.m. monday. this is when the 100 mile an hour plus winds will begin. you don't start to lose power until 50, 60, 70. then we go to tuesday and that's when we're projecting the highest winds. we get into the 40 mile per hour range in west palm beach. this is where we could get minor proble problems. then during the day tuesday this is when we get the closest winds. they're still only in the 40 mile per hour range. that's why we're saying it's a close call for the beaches of florida. it doesn't look devastating. we haven't been saying how about the european model. why haven't we been doing that? they're in agreement, both of them. this is 8:00 a.m. tuesday. this is 8:00 a.m. wednesday. they're in pretty good agreement with the path. for that reason, richard, i'm not thinking the hurricane center is going to make much of a shift. we have two other models, hurricane specific models. that does make a landfall. they'll keep the east coast of florida in the cone, but i do
