welcome debbie and marcia. shall we say naomi or marcia? >> either i go by naomi. >> so how did you each come to the idea of your respective books? debbie, how did you come to keeper of the scale? >> well, i actually have a real life diet partner. call her diet buddy. and we used to meet atal a store -- actually a store sort of similar to the scene where i set my book scene in. we talked about anything and everything but not dieting and we sort of gave up don dieting and had fun meeting and said one day i was in the store with her. and i looked around and i thought you know i have this crazy idea for a book. and from there it sort of like just took on a life of its own. and as circumstances had it i happened to be doing an article for a magazine on a local jewish author jr. what braff and he put me in touch with his publicist. they said if you have some sample chapters i'll give it to the editor here, at algonquin publishing. and at that point i hadn't written a word. i hurried and got some chapters to them and then over the course of reall

chris and debbie are here.you see the pictures that are in this new book by chris, what goes through your mind looking at those times? >> it seems it brings it really back to life, and it's sort of -- as chris often says, it's like a time machine or a time capsule. >> when he was the photographer, when it was him behind the lens, what was different about that? >> well, i always felt more relaxed with chris. he has a really great sense of humor. so we, you know -- as frustrating as things were sometimes, we always ended up with some kind of, you know, ironic joke or something. >> chris, this is a book documenting the four decades. how much is it about a personal memory? how much is about the times, the atmosphere back then? >> it's a nice, exciting period. a lot of interest in it now. the images to me all trigger memories surrounding them, certainly. >> i think we can take a look at a few of the pictures now. if we can just see one of those pictures on the screen. yeah, this one in particular. i don't know if yo

joining me now chair of the dnc debbie wasserman schultz. >> thank you. happy election day to you. >> let me put you a few numbers that are goods in/bad news. good news, unemployment down from 9.5% down here in 2014 to 5.9%. you ask people are they satisfied with the economy? october 2010, the last mid terms, 20% they've been up a bid to 37%, to that is still tough feeling up there. as you look at this, as you know, the president's handling of the economy. october 2010, 43%. today october 2014, 43% does that hurt you out there today? >> i think people recognize that we have been brought out of the worst economic crisis, thanks to barack obama and democrats' policies. 5 a straight months of job growth. the unemployment rate has dropped precipitously. we quit the deficit by two thirds, we have significant growth two quarters in a row in the gdp. we have made progress, but people want to feel like the they're standing on is a little more firm. the reason they don't is because of republican obstructionism. that's the contrast, the choice today t
