i do want to say we have been helping on the case along with congresswoman debbie wasserman-schultz and congressman ted deutch. i have not had the contact with the family in the last months. they first contacted me this time last year. they're very private family. they had not wanted any attention paid to this case. why? because they believed that a solution could be found. we had reached out to the department of state, are to the white house, to reporters without borders, amnesty international, human rights watch. any organization or agency that could help. and they were certainly very aware of the case. i had conversations with the white house as recently as yesterday. they are doing everything possible to make sure that stephen is returned to his wonderful parents, they're lovely people. our community is praying for steven sotloff's life and also to give these wonderful parents the strength to continue with this ordeal. >> how hard is it, congresswoman, to try to make way on a negotiation or not a negotiation but on trying to get sotloff and these others released if paying a ransom i
