the trail this week, making an appearance to boost the republican candidate trying to unseat democratic senator john tester. at his mar-a-lago news conference, trump weighing in on abortion, saying, it's going to be a very small issue in the election. while seeming to suggest he's open to blocking access to the abortion pill, mifepristone. >> would you direct your fda, for example, to revoke access to mifepristone? >> you could do things that would supplement, absolutely. those things are pretty open, and humane. but you have to be able to have a vote. and all i want to do is give everybody a vote. >> reporter: harris pouncing, saying he has made clear that he'd use the federal government to rip away access to medication abortion, effectively banning aabortion nationwide. we will not let him. >> linsey: let's get right to selina wang at the white house for us. what more are we learning about former president trump after that diverted landing? >> reporter: sources tell us everyone on the plane is fine, that this was not an emergency. trump is still planning to hold

i want to concentrate on the senate in particular. the democratsre defending more seats than the republicans and there been some races that have been surprisingly tight or even in the past had been leaning republican. i'm wondering how chances have change for the senate now. >> democrats still have a tough map to the senate, but there's no sugarcoating it. both in states that donald trump is going to win overwhelmingly as well as states outer battlegrounds at the presidential level. one thing democrats can hang their hat on, two things ashley, number one, abortion is on the ballot in four of those states, which is going to help them across dramatically, or they think it will, at least. even in conservative states, has gone the way of pro-abortion rights movement which is aligned with the democratic party. democrats are trying to harness that energy in some of those type senate races. arizona and nevada, for example, though senate races are going to be very tight. the second thing is that the democratic candidates have been polling ahead of the repu

senate in montana, nevada and ohio. good night for republicans means sweep of three swing states, giving gop 53-fleven majority. democrats split with v.p. walz being tie-breaking vote in the senate. west virginia senate race, we have that as solidly republican with joe manchin droppings out of the race and trump winning that state in 2020 by 39 points. key factor in determining control of the senate may be t ticket splitting in montana and ohio. trump won montana by 16 points in 2020 and ohio by eight points in 2020. moderate democratic senators won states by four and seven poibs respectively. dana, how many republicans will vote for democratic senate incumbent this time around? >> dana: it is interesting, good to have power rankings on "america's newsroom." thank you. >> mike: bring in katie pavlich, fox news contributor. good morning. ka >> katie: good morning. here we go. >> mike: it is a toss-up in senate, 50 republicans and 47 democrats with three up for grabs, montana, nevada and ohio. what is your assessment, katie? >> katie: democrats are defending a tougher map than republicans. republicans have easier go when i

tammy baldwin in a race that is crucial for democrats if they want to keep control of the senatet to keep control of the white house. new polling in wisconsin shows kamala harris leading donald trump by 50 to 46%. a four-point spread within the margin of error. joining me is ben wikler. i'm looking forward to hearing what you think of this polling and how optimistic you are. let's start with what's going on in the state of wisconsin to explain this swing. >> it's great to be with youings alex, this was election day in wisconsin. across the state, people have been voting against a gop power grab with constitutional amendments. they have been voting in primaries in fair maps for state legislature. we have a chance to break the republican super majorities. the backdrop is a surge of enthusiasm. people feel like they have a chance to vote for their freedoms. and vote against maga and the attacks that have afflicted our state since trump won here in 2017 by seven tenths of a percentage points. this shows democrats coming off the sidelines. young people getting reingauged in politics.

now in chicago, i caught up with two top senate democrats, majority leader chuck schumer, and the head of the senate democratic campaign arm gary peters, to talk about what harris means for their most difficult races. what is kamala harris do for red states like ohio and montana? >> look, the bottom line is we'll have a great democratic program. she knows what average people think about. look at the brilliance of putting forward this $25,000 a break for first-time homebuyers? 25 to 40 year-old's who are doing pretty well. but one of their biggest problems is they still rent and while they can afford the monthly mortgage payment, they can't afford the down-payment. this is mana from heaven, sherrod brown will campaign on that. jon tester that shows even endorsed her yet he doesn't he's going to talk about issues that they both care about. >> you don't think it's you don't think it's i think it's a mistake that he hasn't endorsed her. i leave it to jon tester. >> he's going to win. he knows montana better than anybody else. >> jon tester has not endorsed kamala harris. is that a mistake?

joining me now is democratic senator elizabeth warren of massachusetts. there and what j.d. vance is now claiming. as you said, women are not stupid but i'm raising this because they will keep doing this, claiming there defenders of women's rights and abortion rights. you are so good at many things including sis think they giving people information. how should people so simply remind everyone out there what trump and j.d. vance stand for an abortion rights? >> okay. let's start with we know what they are doing. they are gaslighting as. they think we cannot hear them when they talk to their radical base. they go to the radical base, trump did it last week, and braked again, i'm the guy who got rid of roe versus wade. he is the one that has put us and now he thinks he can turn to the overwhelming majority of women who think that what he has done is terrible. here is the thing. i want to focus on where we are. you can almost laugh at what they do except for the fact that 40% of all women in america now live in a state that effectively bans access to abortion

it's bringing democratic vermont senator peter welch. good of you to be with us today. the first sitting senator to call for biden to drop out. are you fully comfortable and have a full understanding of who replaced him? as we pointed out, kamala harris has been rather thin on policy. back in 2019 when her policy record came under scrutiny, she quickly went from just about tied for first place to being tied for last. >> we are comfortable. two things. number one, there was an extraordinary outpouring and grassroots support for her once the president made his decision to step aside. $100 million in a single day, 150,000 volunteers stepped up. and all of those governors who are potential candidates endorsed her so that is an indication her starting out with support pure number to come on the policies, bottom line here, she has a record with president biden, and that is got will be debated but we are comfortable with it because what she is zeroing in on our economic issues, affordability issues for the middle class, and building that economy to strengthen the middle class.

you would think the democratic presidential candidate might have a bit of an advantage but consider what happened in 2020, both senatorsook at the latest "new york times" siena poll, it's got trump up by four points, 50-46. hitting 50% is an important target. how do you think this is going to go? where are we right now? >> so i'd say we are at a true toss-up, i really do. that was not the case with joe biden. we are starting to see the polls really pulled away from joe biden toward donald trump, but ever since kamala harris got in that race it seems to have given a boost democrats with black voters and younger voters. as much as we have two democratic senators, we also have a republican governor, so we have voters who are unusually apt to be split ticket voters, voters who are moderate, may be fiscally conservative or socially moderate, willing to vote for a republican governor at a democratic senator, and that is just what we saw in 2002. that is the same voters the harris campaign have got to go after in this trip to south georgia is a big part of that. >> john: is look at the racial makeup of georgia by percentage.
