i'm denise koch. >>> an oil spill is fouling up miles of the yellow stone river.tured exxon mobile pipeline spewed 40 to 50,000- gallons of crude oil into the river over the weekend. >> it's heart breaking. it's heart breaking, man. >> reporter: those in montana's sky country are used to seeing the stunning beauty. >> we're all proud of it. >> reporter: the homeowners returned to the site. they had the smell of crude. >> it was a strong smell. >> reporter: exxon hopes to soak up the oil. the river is fast moving. >> we actually shut down the pipeline in late may. >> reporter: the cause of the rupture is unknown. the worst damage is limited to a ten mile stretch. the montana governor dismissed that as premature. he said, we have to have a physical inspection and soon. he slammed the oil company's claim that no wild life was injured. there's oil all over the topsoil. i don't want my animals eating that. >> reporter: the oil seeped into pasture line 100 miles down river. it's overwhelming and scary. >> reporter: yellow stone isn't threatened, but the river system it'
