so the census helps to determine the allotment of funding for things like the department of transportationnd how highways are fixed or not. you know, the department of housing and urban development. is there enough housing, enough low income housing for people? and the administration's idea in trying to weed out here citizens from noncitizens is to intentionally skew the allotment of federal funds in a way that completely takes immigrants out of the picture and only provides federal funding for folks who have citizenship. in practice as you point out, ali, that is not the way it works. when a city or state gets federal funds and distributes them if there is not enough money in the pile that takes into account the entire population then everybody suffers because when the money is distributed everybody ends up getting less than what they were actually determined to need, you know, based on the federal analysis. and as you pointed out, again, we see the administration digging in its heels on something it's already been told is illegal. sometimes when they do this they know it is not actually
