the california health and human services agency and california department of public health will hold a briefing to discuss the state's plan to vaccinate children 5 to 11. as planning gets under way, take a look at this information. 34% of parents said they would vaccinate right away. 32% said they wanted to wait and see. 7% said they would only vaccinate their children if it was required. 24% said they would definitely not vaccinate their child. in regard to that rare occurrence of the heart condition, fda scientists wrote in a briefing document that the risk of vaccine outweighed the dangers of hospitalization, death or any serious outcomes, and with that being said, one stanford doctor said the fact that children can get the vaccine in their own doctor's office should help with the hesitancy. >> the main point is that this vaccine prevents symptomatic cases, and while people may think it's not a serious illness, this disease can cause hospitalizations, children on ventilators. the risk is much lower than in adults, but as a parent myself of three adult children, i wouldn't want to
