secretary devos talks about how title nine is impacting students. >> good afternoon everyone, we had very important conversations today. this was part of my ongoing commitment to hear from all sides of this issue. i was surprised to learn that people with 20 or 30 years of experience in this area from institutions had never been invited to have a conversation about this. this was also a really emotionally draining day. it's an incredibly difficult topic, but nothing compared to what the student have gone through. i saw a lot of pain today, but i also saw a lot of determination and resolve. i have two daughters and two sons, and as a mother, as a grandmother i can only imagine the horrors that student and families have endured around this issue. but i'm struck by the courage of these student, the courage to come forward and share their stories, and i want to thank each of them for having the conversation and for wanting to be part of the solution. i heard from female student from male student, from straight student, from lgbt student, from a student who was both a survivor as well as

betsy devos put that on hold. what was our argument? the states jumped in with a lawsuit, so what's the counterargument? >> we should mention that in addition to pressing pause or little reset on defense to payment, betsy devos rolled back gainful employment and gainful employment regulates for-profit colleges and other career programs based on the debt-to-income ratio with their students. so with those two in mind, the lawsuit essentially says that it's a violation of law for the education department to yiewn rarltly strike down the rule after the long and public negotiation process. and with the reset button being hit, what we saw this week is consumer advocates and students once again taking to the podium to testify and tock about theirex persons and why they believe that these two rules should stay in place. >> brown: i want to expand to generally look at the overall student loan problem. where do you see the major differences and major plane flat with the new administration? >> we saw with obama taking office around the financial c

the attorneys general of those two states join ed an 18-state lawsuit filed today against betsy devos. the suit challenges a move by the education department to freeze new rules. the rules created by the obama administration would erase the debt of borrowers who were cheated by a for profit school. >> these are people working hard day in and day out all across pennsylvania who give up their hard earned money of the hopes to get ahead of their career. when they are scammed, it sets them back even further. >> devos says she wants to come up with a better solution and she's frozen the rules until she does. >>> a young child is at the hospital now after a near drowning at a jersey shore campground. a girl was pulled tr the lake. she wasn't breathing when new jersey state troopers arrived at the lake. she was rushed to the hospital. we're waiting for an update on her condition. the past five minutes we got a statement from the campground which says safety is its top priority and it is deeply sadden ed by the incident that took place today. >> you see the tire tracks across the front lawn.
