disney shares getting a boost today. in talks to sell its indian tv and media business. an indian billionaire reportedly one of the names disney held talks with for the sale as sell as sun tv network. we always talk about the overseas market, a tough market, especially when they don't have cricket rights which they didn't have because they lost out because an indian conglomerate bought it and broadcast it for free, which hurt disney. seems like disney is serious about getting rid of assets at this point. >> it does, and i think -- tom rogers has brought this up. they seem to be negotiating against themselves in the media and driven by deals, which was never the way this company has been, especially for bob iger who is thought to be one of the great negotiators, at least in his sector. to the extent that this -- i don't see this as a major strategic sell, i see this as maybe remaining focus on what they have to do. i don't think this changes the game. if we were talk about selling all espn here and now -- and that at one

it's important to point out what you just said, disney shares have been trending lower.ust to put it in context, this week disney shares hit their lowest level since 2014. so, what they see here is an opportunity and what they say is that disney has the scale, especially once it completes that acquisition of the third of hulu, that it doesn't currently own, buying it out from comcast, cnbc's parent company, once it completes that acquisition, then it will be positioned to compete at scale in the streaming market here. and to compete really with netflix, which is number one. one key thing in terms of timing, they forecast the direct-to-consumer growth will outpace the linear decline with d-to-c surpassing linear in 2024. that means just around the corner, next year, we will see that tradition where direct-to-consumer revenue is bigger than linear revenue. that, of course, also helps explain why disney is interested in shedding some of those linear tv assets and having conversations about that. >> are other analysts stepping in with the stock price and saying to buy? >> ye

stuart: moving onto disney, a slow down in the amusement parks.y, look at that, the stock's at 79 too. what are they trying do to about this? slow down in foot traffic at parks. ashley: yeah, trying to make it cheaper and magic kingdom offering limited time discounts on children's tickets at disneyland and disney world starting october 24th, tickets for children aged 3-9 can be bought for as low as $50 for disneyland in california. those tickets can be used between january 8 through march 10 of next year. there's stipulations and as for the walt disney world in florida, childrens tickets and dining plans are going to be half off for guests who purchase a four day four night vacation package and the deal starts november 14th and can be used next year from march 3 through june 30th. we should point out, stuart, it's not just siz disney seeing the parks like six flags and sea world with lower numbers and travel agents say higher prices and arriving trips to europe are the biggest reasons. >> stuart: thank you, ash. >> disney might be the happiest pla

(♪♪) >>> arm holdings getting quite a few bull calls today. a slew of analysts initiating coverage and are optimistic about the chip designers growth. that's what deirdre bosa is watching in today's tech check. >> 25 days since arm went public. that's the quiet period before the banks that underwrote the ipo publish research. in arm's case there were many of them. a flurry of notes this morning. i counted 10 altogether. every one of them a buy, that leaves just one sell rating from bernstein, not involved in the ipo and gives arm a medium price, a mean price, target of $63.43. $10 above where it trades today. the market has cooled on arm. the stock surged 25% on its debut, ipo day, but has paired back most of those gains. since i covered softbank i'm always interested in what this mean

all in all, the company shows it remains ahead of disney. people are still willing to pay for netflix amid the password sharing crackdown. hence the pre-market move, frank. >> arjun, you say they gave investors everything they wanted except for one thing. the average revenue per user. price hikes in the u.s. that will address the average revenue per user decline which hit the stock over the last month? >> reporter: good point, frank. that revenue per user or membership was down about 1% in the quarter. interestingly, they forecast that in q4. that arm would be flat going forward. there is an improvement as well in that and clear investors looking for that to be boosted in the coming quarters. we are seeing the short-term benefits of the ad plan and password crackdown. what does the mix of plans look like next year? will more people buy the cheaper ad supported tier or pay for the premium subscription? that is key. that could dilute that arm figure the investors are watching for. the key going forward for netflix is continuing the subscriber
