dixon, next question goes to you. i'm going to take this in a lightly different direction and perhaps you might not need rebuttals. in the interest of civility and certainly something that governor milliken, the longest-serving governor of this state talked about, i want to ask you to encourage the best and the brightest to enter the field of public service, what can you say positive about your opponent and the political party that she represents? ms. dixon: my opponent always talks about her daughters, and as a mom of girls, i think that is so important to come out and encourage your daughters and love your daughters. she has also made sure she has fought for women, and i love that about her. i think that we can continue that tradition and make sure we take care of women and make sure women are protected in this state. is so important. >> a, same question. gov. whitmer: i would say something similar. i think moms' voices are important. we obviously have different perspectives, all moms are not the same, but i appreci

tudor dixon on the ballot. second debate.er two we highlighted were the one and only debates they are going to have. this was their second debate. oakland university in rochester, michigan. opened up and talked about abortion in particular a state ballot initiative referred to as proposal 3 codify the right to abortion in the state constitution. tudor dixon, the republican attacked that as extreme when the governor tells you this is going to be like roe v. wade. not even close to roe v. wade. so extreme. only places on earth where they do abortion procedures and these kind of rules are north korea and china. but it wasn't just about abortion. will about schools. because you remember, during coast, this state got a lot of heat because the parents were coming on television saying we have got to reopen our schools. she was one of the governors who kept the schools closed longest, listen to their debate on. this mrs. dixon says that i kept students out longer than any other state. that's just not true. i worked closely with my re

they just had a debate, tudor dixon and gretchen whitmer.w is the governor's role in abortion playing into those rights? >> i think actually it's really fascinating. it's an issue important to democrats across the country but in michigan it's sharp. whitmer was out in front leading a court challenge to a law that had been on michigan's books for a long time that could have potentially outlawed abortion right away. she won in court, protected abortion rights for people from michigan. and now a referendum on abortion is on the ballot, right. that makes it different than many other states because people are going to have a chance to vote up or down. as we've seen in places like kansas, for example, voters decided they wanted to protect abortion rights. it's a different question than having to say and think about a candidate, a person who may have other flaws or you may disagree with in other areas who happens to share your position with on abortion. i think that dynamic is what you saw play out on stage here. i think it's easy to forget. the tr
