today the dnc filed a lawsuit contending election officials conspired to tilt the election in favor of donald trump. while he keeps out of the public eye details of his private conversations with fired fbi director james comey are in the spotlight. 15 pages of memos were released last night unveiling conversations between himself and the president months before he was fired. donald trump added former new york city mayor rudy giuliani to his personal legal team. he hopes to negotiate an end to the mueller investigation in a week or two. >> breaking news, dnc suing the russian government, top members of the trump campaign and wikileak. the dnc is alleging they conspired not only to disrupt the 2016 presidential election but also to help elect donald trump. they want millions of dollars for what it calls a brazen attack on american democracy, ranging from the russian misinformation campaign to the cyber attacks on the dnc and subsequent release of that information by wikileaks. the "washington post" first reported the lawsuit. i'm joined now by one of the reporters who broke it, rosalind

terms of hacking the dnc and john podesta e-mails, all those moves were designed to fuel and to increase the intensity of divisions already within our society. they targeted wedge issues of race, emigration. gun safety. they got involved in a way of trying to turn the bernie sanders wing, your party, against the hillary clinton wing of your party, and then make that more difficult for the democratic party over all. he kind of nailed it. that was, you have a data of the secret source that mike just mention. you have gerasimov doctrine. the right about the story that was written by time magazine that in the spring of 2016 there was a military intelligence officer of russia that was intercepted saying we have a plan against hillary clinton.

yet they walk into the dnc and they won't give them the server. they say we're not giving it to you. okay. we'll leave. that's not the fbi. that's a fix. >> sean: why didn't they demand those dnc servers? a phenomenal point. double standard. president trump is right. earlier today, the national review's david hanson with an incredible column. breaking down the double standard in clear terms. mueller was too happy to target michael flynn, 35 years of service to his country for lying to the fbi. the fbi agent's interviewing him didn't think so. andrew mccabe, he remains uncharged even after the inspector general reported multiple lies to federal investigators under oath. james comey, also remains free and clear when he lied to congress about not writing hillary clinton's exoneration letter before investigating and interviewing clinton? and peter strzok interviewed clinton? what about james clapper? we know he lied under oath about data collection on americans. john brennan who lied under oath about the dirty dossier. and then no charges as the presi

but the dnc did file a lawsuit against the nixon reelection committee early on.lly prosecutor investigating. they were trying to smoke out the rnc employees to try to find documentation or evidence tying it to the mnixon white house. this is a little fwdifferent because it's coming after the fact. and we have a special counsel. i'm not sure it's as analogous as it might first seem. given the nature of civil litigation, this is going to drag out for quite some time to see -- it's -- we still have to see whether or not it clears basic hurdles of whether the trump campaign officials named in there will be -- will survive as defendants. we don't know. but i think it is far more likely we're going to learn from mueller's investigation and possibly the senate committee investigation far more than we're ever going to get from this lawsuit. >> barbara, when you look at the memos, the seven memos that came out, whose argument does it support? those who are critical of the mueller investigation or those who support it, or neither? >> well, it's really interesting. i learne
