you have this granular -- in dole's case, that would be 46% of their sales growth if there's a hiccup company -- you mentioned before the break like smucker's who sources coffee through new orleans. that's where their big plant is for folgers. we have that level of detail going through the companies. the other oning we count out having issues to the extent it keeps going on, some of the chicken companies who export a decent amount of chicken, you don't want a perishable product that won't go out. >> you can imagine the industry screaming. they're trying to get things like chicken to other markets. keurig doctor pepper is another. what's the length of the strike at which point you think people might seriously need to think about stockpiling. >> so our transportation team here is expected that this gets resolved in the coming days or weeks. i want to rely on their expertise in that matter there's some redundancy for companies like dr pepper, but they have assets here domestically to help them. >> and briefly, brown foreman and e.l.f. cause mosmetics, why that come up on your list? >> an

for vance, i think his risk is potentially coming off too aggressive when it comes the doling with someonelike an elder statesman on that stage next to him. certainly, i think walz has the toughest challenge. elizabeth: okay. so there's also this, i mean, jon, we've got now a wider war between iran and and israel. we've got a port strike that'll drive prices higher including for groceries. and you have hurricane helene slamming the southern states. these multiple october surprises. how do you see the debate playing out tonight? >> i mean, i have no expectations that the moderator will hold governor walz's feet to the fire. umly, that's going to be to on j.k -- ultimately, that's going to be the on j.d. vance. he needs to to understand he's really debating kamala harris, and he needs to remind people that kamala harris is vice president right now, and the crisis in the middle east and the ongoing conflicts in the world is happening on her watch. and all of the stuff she talks about, about how prices are too high, it's happened on her watch. why hasn't kamala harris done anything right now?

he was very close to senator dole, who ultimately, of course, ran ran for president.hat kind of those kind of relationships gave him the ability to to work closely. and that, i think, was the public recognize that because of the way these senators operated with each other in public and behind the scenes, applicants on the committee in both the house an senate feel that there was a bipartisan effort as well. i think so. during during the investigation and during the hearings, the bipartisan consensus started to break down during hearings and afterwards, as and when they ultimately went to when the committee issued a nearly 700 page report, the republicans on the committee, not all of them signed that report. and there was a minority report that was issued that took issue and disagree with with some of the findings. members in the house were much less republican, members in the house were more. upset. i guess you would you have to say. or more or less less. part of that consensus. and so they took a different view. at the end of the day, in terms of what the findings we

. >> john: even if you are bob dole who had a bad night in 1976, he was nominated 20 years later forue yourself from a bad night. what are your final thoughts? >> everybody in the press gallery on the campaign plans, they talk about vice presidential debates as low impact but they really are high-stakes. everybody watching knows one of these two men could become president of the united states. the country is going to take a temperature on character, policy. who are these people who might lead the country? one of them might be leading the country should a crisis happen, a heartbeat away from presidency. we live in a time of assassination attempts on the republican nominee, of political violence, and of aging politicians. it's no question that one day one of these people could be president. we hope all people live healthy lives and serve full terms but you never know in american history. that's what history tells us. >> john: the other big event, these incredible floods in north carolina. >> nancy: handling of natural disasters is often a proxy for voters of confidence. they look at ho
