let's get a check on that sunny forecast with nbc meteorologist domenica davis. ca domenica, just a terrible weather weekend for the northeast. please tell me it's going away soon. >> no, i can't. i wish i could. unfortunately the cold, it is locked in. yes, we're talking more snow by the middle of the week. but we have to start with where our winter weather is right now the normal of snow and ice, and that is through the south central part of the u.s. we have heavy bands of snow moving through springfield, missouri elizabethton getting snowfall rates, inch to an inch and a half an hour. nashville as well. we're looking between this swath, kentucky and northern tennessee, eight to ten inches possible as this storm system moves through. ice will be a concern through arkansas, central part of arkansas memphis and then eventually through south carolina. we could see a quarter of an inch of ice. windchill advisories through much of the northeast. that's what it feels like. minus 25 right now in boston. that is bone-chilling. the cold stays through the rest of the week

let's bring in domenica davis tracking the storm. how bad will it get and how long will it last?this will be round three. we are looking for round four by the end of the week. and boston right now, they have broken records and may have for the past month over five feet of snow. another inch came down today. here is what we are looking at on storm tracker. heavy snow through eastern massachusetts, so wooster is getting hit, up through boston and windily and the north shore. ice so the south where it is more of a nuisance but the heavy snow up through new england. this will clear by tomorrow morning. so we still have several hours to go which means additional snowfall. so we could see upwards of five inches in the hartford area. six inches in the boston area additional. adding insult to injury because a lot of those folks having trouble digging out. and ice to the south and behind this we are looking at an arctic blast with the coldest temperatures of the season coming into play by thursday and friday along with -- yes -- another storm. >> how horrible. we love you though. domenica

let's get right to domenica davis. >> we're looking for cold temperatures which is making for snow intoio and tennessee valley. here's a look at the winter storm warnings and advisory and now stretch through the ohio valley through the mid-atlantic. this storm is on the move. by this evening's commute, we will be looking at it across the beltway. now the cold has pushed all the way down nashville feels like 21 degrees right now, but the core of the cold air is still locked from the eastern great lakes to the northwest. we have windchills minus zero in many cases and the cold will stick around and that is going to make for winter weather over the next couple of days. the storm tracker is showing heaviest snow through northernwestern tennessee and bowling green and louisville where they already have 5 inches on the ground. it's more of an ice game we're looking at through southern tennessee and that will move off to the carolinas as well. a quarter inch of ice could be by the end of today for parts of tennessee off to the carolinas. keep that in mind. here's a look at future coast. we'll
