dominica first, what's happening with the storm right now?well the storm is still going over new england, eastern part of massachusetts, rhode island all the way up into maine. we have very impressive snow totals so far, and we're not done. so already feet of snow are coming down in framingham mass 32 inches boston mass 36 which would put it at the top five of all-time snowstorms. connecticut has been hit hard looking at 26 inches. this is still going. we still have blizzard warnings from providence that go up to maine. these will expire through providence and boston by about 10:00. tomorrow morning is when we will see the blizzard warning expire for bangor. we still have several hours to go of snow bands coming through and drifting and blowing snow and possible whiteout conditions. we've been seeing the worst conditions along cape cod. we're still seeing heavy bands coming in and pushing in through providence and new bedford area and the eastern part of massachusetts. that's where some of the heaviest snow bands had been earlier this evening

let's get to dominica davis. how bad was the flooding. >> it was very bad. we saw that in the south shore and cape cod and in the north shore, winthrop had some problems with the water. with the cold temperatures the water into the homes has frozen over so you have ice forming over. a big problem for them it. will take time for anything to melt because of the cold temperatures. i want to start with the windchills to show you what it feels like in the new england area. not as bad as you did yesterday, but cold. 8 the feel like in the harbor. 9 in boston. providence coming in for 12 degrees for the feel-like temperature. 9 in icanon. and ice is out there on the roadways. here is a look at the radar. we still have residual snow through the northeastern part of maine. that will continue for the next couple of hours before that moves out, but yeah as you mentioned, we have two systems that we are watching that will come down the pike and add insult to injury for the new england area. here is the first, a slipper system spreading a swath tomorrow through the great

joining us now is dominica davis. >> this was monday's forecast. we were expecting the storm to sort of be closer about 50 miles west. that would push the moisture in further west, so what happened was 50 or 70 miles that jogged to the east. new england didn't change much for them. but for new york city and coastal new jersey we didn't see any of those blizzard warnings and we didn't get those blockbuster snow totals. we still did get snow and deteriorating conditions but it just wasn't what we had in new england. the brunt of new england, from rhode island all the way up to boston and maine, that's where this storm system was the worst with the track that we're looking at. now it is still going on this storm. here's a look at the very impressive snow totals that we have. worcester, mass 26 inches. boston 21.5 inches. they still have a few more inches to go. we haven't topped off just yet. that snow will starlet to diminish tonight. we'll see light snow showers and we could even have a few light snow showers tomorrow as well. but then you look at n

dominica davis, tell us it is not so. >> no. i'm sorry. it is not just one, it is two. clipper system will arrive tomorrow through the great lakes but for new england it is thursday into from -- into friday. it is drying out but we just saw the live shot from maine and the clearing in bangor. and here is a live shot. and this is a look. this is a 48-hour of snowfall and this is a clipper system. and here is wednesday morning and here is the output. so snow spreads across the great lakes and into new england and by friday it could be 1-2 in parts of new england. that is not a major snowfall but it will cause some problems and temperatures below freezing through the weekend. so that is going to mean a lot of ice. now, for the weekend, this is what we're looking at. a brand new storm that will be coming in and it will come on sunday into monday. so here is a look at this system that moves in and this could definite by be your superbowl party pooper for the people having company over. this could cause problems because sunday night into monday it looks like it will be that s

we start with nbc meteorologist dominica davis in our studio now as we mentioned, we are showing the videos. this is just the beginning. when will we start to see it pick up. >> we will see it pick up after the evening commute, 7:00 8:00 in new york and closer to 10:00 in boston. that's really where the brunt of the storm will be. so here is a look. blizzard of 2015. it is developing right now. we are not in the main part of this yet, but we are seeing snow come down. visibility is starting to be compromised as well. philadelphia checking their visibility and less than four miles. new york is around five. this is starting to all go downhill, but again the worst of this is really going to come after the evening commute. so you still have time to get things done. i want to update you on warnings. philadelphia you're going to go into your snow warning, your winter storm warning. that's going to start at noon. in about an hour. new york starts their blizzard warning at 1:00. then boston we will start that later, about 7:00 in the evening it starts. now, the times are spread out, but i wa

dominica davis is tracking it. so many are having trouble because it's too cold out there. >> unfortunately, even when the snow leaves us the cold will stay. we'll talk about that certainly. because it is going to factor in to the long-term forecast. i want to start and show you that we still have -- we've been talking a lot about the blizzard. but we have winter storm warnings in effect. this is up and down the east coast. a lot of people affected by this. even where we're not seeing blizzard conditions. certainly, conditions are getting worse as we head through the overnight. we're seeing the winds pick up. visibility is dropping rapidly. everything is really starting to come together. we're in the think of it. especially through new england. we have 56 for a wind gust at province town. so far the highest wind gust that we've seen betty is in nantucket. that was reported at 2:22 this morning. it was a gust of 72 miles per hour. that was the highest and that is just under hurricane-force winds, which are 74 miles

msnbc meteorologist dominica davis has the latest. good morning. >> good morning, yes.s. it is pretty much staying on tragedy. here is the radar now. the main part of the storm is still out through pittsburgh cleveland, columbus. that's where the part of the low is now. the main part of this system really the blizzard that we are talking about, comes tonight. that's really when this gets going. but the snow is around, starting to fall from philadelphia to new york to hartford. leading edge getting into boston. this will bring a few inches by the evening commute. it is tonight where the real heavy stuff and blizzard conditions will start to come into effect. that's what we are looking at right now as far as snow totals. what we are still seeing is on the high side. again, this is a blockbuster storm. we are calling it 22 to 26 in boston, 16 to 20 in new york lowering that a little bit. still significant snow. and we could see the potential of up to a foot of snow in philadelphia. so the main part of the system heaviest snow is still trending to new england. so the heavie

joining us now with the latest on this storm is our own msnbc meteorologist dominica davis. what people want to know right now is basically how long is this thing going to last? >> well this is going to last through tomorrow morning will be the worst of it and then it will start to settle down through the afternoon. but it looks like the snowfall, betty, is going to linger especially through new england through the first part of the afternoon. so we still have a ways to go. and we are seeing these blizzard conditions now ramping up especially through providence and the boston area. parts of massachusetts are really getting in on those strong winds and blowing and drifting snow. visibility is compromised in many spots as these heavy bands of snow now are starting to push in from new york 3r06dence, all the way up into boston. we are getting into the brunt of this storm where we are going to see the worst damage, and namely it's the winds. they have been howling. 60-mile-per-hour wind gusts. vineyard haven, that's martha's vineyard. 61 in nantucket. we did have a wind gust ear
