dominick streaming live from the pakistani capital of islamabad. dominick? >> shep, it is certainly of great concern in a country that seems to be destabilizing every day. the latest figures we have are some 20 people dead and at least 100 people injured. the pakistan taliban took immediate responsibility another group being blacklisted by the united states has a terror organization. the building was hit by -- the builds hit was an interrogation center containing members of the group. the group was trying to spring its men free. we have seen months and months of sectarian and political violence down in karachi we believe that nothing on the scale has been seen in at least two years. right now we have law and order disintegrating on a daily basis as the government struggles with doing with anti-american jihadist on the afghanistan border while obviously dealing with the results of the aftermath of the summer floods we now have wide disease epidemics. we have food shortages. and on top of that, there are economic problems and economy problems causing unrest. p

try me now to talk about that is dominick, the curator of education and public programs. you are vested with a multifaceted responsibility, with education and also multimedia. could you explain that? >> there are three main areas. we produce education activities for all ages, k-12, and adults, and we also produce a lot of educational media, a lot of interviews with artists, stuff that we published online, and other galleries. there's also a public program, which include some educational activities, but also live cultural programming for the artists projects. >> what are all the ways that the museum reaches out? >> the latest platform for educational media is launching right now with his anniversary. we have gotten to the point where we could put a lot of the content about artists, the stories behind artists we have had on line, but those on to the ipod touch. >> could you talk about the education role that the museum plays in the city of san francisco? >> we are in the middle of a new initiative to provide more resources and programs for families and the locality. we are

alternative government's -- governments that can be measured in terms of the presence or absence of dominick institutions, a listed organizations, or informal rules. the indicators out to determine the strength or weakness of the variables. if we were going to do a computer show, i would show you a list of the factors and the weight each is given and some kind of tabulation -- the beginnings of a statistical analysis that by graduate students probably understand better than i do. i just run the show. i do not do the calculations. we are developing a fairly sophisticated data set that will be capable of measurements of a bunch of different sorts to test out the importance ingredients that i developed a little bit earlier. it is a fun project. it is challenging because of the fact that social scientists say you cannot effectively studied a clandestine thing, but we say you must. it is also challenging, again, because it is so dynamic. today's black spot might be a functioning community six months from now, and the opposite. it is quite a challenge to stay abreast of this field. i am persuaded
