i will turn it over to donna. think one of the challenges for republicans, if withontrast that democrats, there were so many kind of real people telling their stories, they were uplifting, they were hopeful. we got to see them and we got to see them as they defined who joe biden is. i'm not really sure the names have come out on some of the characters that are going to be in the republican convention, whether they have that contrast that really tried to uplift his character to the extent that anyone can do that. so i think for republicans, i don't agree with you at all. this is not a choice election. this is a referendum on a president who has been described by any number of the speakers last week as a failure and described by vice president biden as a failure. he is going to have to explain to the american people and defend his handling of the covid response, his handling of the economic recovery. he is going to have to explain caging children. all of these things, i think, are displaying that there is going to b

does that feel that way to you, donna edwards? >> i think in some ways it does because certainly that was the talk early on but i also think i was one of the ones that said i don't think it matters whether he chooses a black woman or not, that it is going to be a strong ticket, i would be able to support it. and it turns out it matters an awful lot, when the announcement came through i felt as a black woman something inside me that said oh, my gosh, this is really a moment. so i think you're going to find she's rolled out, gets on the campaign trail such as it is that people are going to have that kind of response to her, and i would imagine that's what joe biden felt as well, that he would not just be making an historic choice but one that would serve him well both on the campaign trail and when it comes to governing and speaking to the next generation. so it is really an exciting moment. but it is not without its detractors, we will see those coming. but i think kamala harris is ready for that. she proved that during the primary
