at the bottom, hk douglas. i think what happen is that henry douglas went across the street from his town in hagerstown and found this kid, b.w.t. phreaner, to take a picture of this rock before it was blown up. i was very excited to find that. this is a phreaner photograph, i believe the first photograph of the lodge. thomas bolt who in 1867 put the national cemetery together, had a shop on the bottom floor of a building in hagerstown. upstairs was the photographic studio of b.w.t. phreaner. in 1867, he goes upstairs to phreaner and hires the young kid. i have looked at some of phreaner's ads. he used to mention thomas bolt. they shared a lot of ad space. why i wanted to show this is if you look, you see the vignett ing. around there. this would not be a landscape camera used to take pictures outdoors. this is another picture he took. these are in the history of the antietam national cemetery that came out in 1867. he even got a photo credit on the back. there is all that vignetting. these early photographs, t
