kiet. >>> reporter: we are live on park and market in downtown san jose where the opening ceremonies are set to begin at 11 a.m. the veterans day parade here in san jose one of the oldest and one of the longest running ones in the country started back in 1919. it starts on santa clara street at the guadalupe river and then goes east until it hits market and then makes a right and ends on san carlos. just before the start of the parade, local officials will launch a huge campaign to end homelessness among veterans, called all the way home. the bowl is to find -- the goal is to find homes for the 700 homeless veterans in santa clara county. many of them have housing vouchers but can't find an opening. so one of the key components of the campaign, the $5 million fund to incentivize landlords to ren advise properties and accept the vouchers. starting tomorrow, u.s. military veterans in california will be able to apply for special driver's licenses. the dmv says the word veteran will appear on the licenses. they will allow vets to show proof of military service without having to carry all

we have had delays approaching and passing downtown san jose. p hopes to clear up this accident within the next 10 minutes or so. northbound 101 heavy traffic leaving morgan hill approaching san jose bound for santa clara. we do have reports also very heavy traffic again leaving morgan hill, madrone is now open. it had been shut down between cochran and monterey because of a fire burning at the courtyard marriott. madrone is now open but northbound 101 very heavy. west 580 that's going to be slow leaving the altamont pass from the 205 interchange, stays heavy to about vasco. but it does loosen up a little bit the closer you get to the 680 interchange. meantime, heading for the richmond/san rafael bridge, westbound 580 is beginning to crowd up now at the toll plaza. you can see heavy traffic heading across the bridge towards marin county. south 101 we are going to be heavy leaving novato bound for san ra he will in. be prepared for pockets -- bound fo san rafael. headbe prepared for pockets of slow traffic. southbound leaving southern marin headin
