dr. thomas jackson, a king biographer and associate professor at the university of north carolina. ack men are in jail now than when dr. king was alive, the unemployment rate in the minority community is much higher than the white community. with that as a backdrop, what do you think dr. king would say about his dream? >> well, it's always a mixed bag. you are hearing that from black leaders now. i think he would focus on the unfulfilled promises, the challenge of poverty, the discretion between the have and have notes which has worsened at the same time it has become a more inclusive society, open to people of color and women so that we could have a black president. it's always a mixed bag. we need to credit the achievements of that generation, activism works, but we need to keep the eyes on the prize of what's going to complete the mission and the dream is attention to these economic disparities. >> are you convinced that the civil rights leaders of today are tackling the tough issues that dr. king would have tackled during his life and times? after all, he was tackling the issue

michael jackson just insisted dr. murray come, so they just paid them. said during the tour, the ceo for aeg knew that michael jackson had a major drug problem. >> so, then, avery, if that were the case, does it mean it would have been incumbent upon aeg to put a stop to it and is that what the jackson family would try to establish? >> well, they're going to have to do that because the fact is that what will be unrebutted in this case is that fact that michael jackson was on propofol for it may have been more than 12 year, actually, back to the late 1980s. what's very intriguing in this is that she testified about what somebody else, a doctor, told her. you know what that sounds like, that sounds like here say and the doctor didn't want to testify because of confidentiality, so the defense needed to get that evidence in and indeed what she told the jurors and i don't know how anyone's going to be able to rebut this, is that it was the doctors who said don't worry about it. it is nonaddictive. oh, my goodness gracious. so, the jury is left with that sense.

dr. king's closest friends and confidant in the civil rights movement is rev vie jesse jackson.ter, who is also a fox news contributor, joining us in the studio live. welcome. nice to have you live today. >> thank you. pleasure to be here. >> uma: so many people are taking the day to offer reflections on the pivotal moment in history. what goes through your mind as you look back? >> it's important to pay homage to the man that started the march on washington movement. a. phillip randolph, the founder of the first black labor movement. he started to push for jobs and justin, which is the march on weigh in 1963 did as well. african-americans were not earning living wages. we did not have fair employment practices. so in 1941, he moved that forward to 1963. then you had a. phillip randolph joined by sammy, who was in jail that night, dorothy height and whitney young. he's important to call these names. it wasn't reverend dr. martin luther king alone. it was his speech was all the way at the end of march. many people thought there would not be enough people there to hear this wonder
