that broke out on mt. hamilton yesterday. in total, 85 acres of land burned there. it took firefighters about two hours to bring those flames under control. you can see the location of the fire zone along mt. hamilton road near grant lake. the area that burned had been targeted by fire crews to be used for a controlled burn later this summer to help reduce fire danger. >>> and another fire in san jose forced residents to jump into action to save their homes. >> yeah, flames came close to a neighborhood just off north capital avenue. that's a few blocks away from mayberry road. abc7 reporter katie marzullo has more with the fast-acting neighbors. >> we all got into action. >> reporter: karen abad said her husband was in the garage when he saw the smoke and flames. he called to her and she called 911, but they didn't stop there. >> we also grabbed hoses from our neighbors who weren't home. we called them to tell them to come home, and we all grabbed each other's hoses. >> reporter: they fought back the flames until san jose firefighters arrived. >> i just hoped that nobody's home would burn, and the wind kept shifting, so you didn't know where it was going. >> reporter: the fire of that interaction, and when she was able to drive forward, she stepped right in the way of an oncoming hyundai accent. the police report says that it was williams who was at fault for violating the
