hottest day coming up on tuesday, upper 90s to above 100 degrees in the east bay valleys.morgan hill area south of san jose in the upper 90s as well. will carry that over into one more day on wednesday. and then the sea breeze should make a bit of a comeback and our temperatures will begin to drop back down second half of the week, heading towards next weekend. warmest days for san francisco and the inner bay will be tuesday and wednesday. similar trend for inland areas, but unlike previous heat events, this one shouldn't last as long as we drop back into the 80s by next weekend. keep an eye though, on those wednesday winds. technically, that's a sea breeze picking back up, but after the hot day there on tuesday, we'll have to watch for those dry hills inland but trending cooler for the second half of the week. all right rob, thanks. anthony florez joining us now with a look back at the 49ers. yeah great honor for a great player patrick willis takes his place with the greats in football history. how he hopes his journey to the hall of fame inspires others. stick around it'

inland areas, east bay valleys, upper 90s to near 100 degrees. ind of a sneak preview actually, where the 7-day forecast is headed early next week. right now on display. our summer microclimates around the bay area, no low clouds around san francisco, but the sea breeze keeping the temperatures comfortable or chilly. actually close to 60 degrees right now. but as you head inland, walnut creek still hanging on to 93 degrees, we had highs today near 100 earlier today, 89 degrees in dublin and around the tri valley with those blue skies and more blue skies near san jose, where it's a more comfortable 78 degrees. now remember yesterday we had showers and rainbow views at this hour 24 hours ago. now that moisture has moved off to the north pretty active day for sierra thunderstorms, but should see less of that tomorrow. if you do have plans around lake tahoe and reno. looks a little less active tomorrow. more that has pushed off to the east closer to the bay area. the story is the low cloud cover, which eventually will reach san francisco and spread lo

forward, you can see these temperatures will be climbing again mid to upper 90s for the inland east bay valleys south of san jose. we're talking tuesday and wednesday for that, and then thursday and friday. temperatures slowly start to cool down and then we'll likely see even bigger cooling as we move forward into the weekend. but notice where the footprint of the marine air stops basically right around the inner bay. same locations waking up tomorrow morning to those low clouds and probably some mist and drizzle, including in san francisco early in the day. clear skies inland and a warm forecast. we've got morning temperatures in the upper 50s and mid 60s to wake up to for tomorrow morning. then as we take a look at those afternoon highs, we're likely looking at the hottest day of the week tomorrow as downtown san jose sees temperatures in the 90s mid 90s south as you head into morgan hill, upper 90s possible around the tri valley up to concord 80 speyside around oakland and hayward peninsula. temperatures in the mid 70s for san mateo. another day of mid 70s around san francisco and north bay.

so the cooler air finally reaching some of those inland east bay valleys. 58 right now in san rafael, looking at some low clouds on approach, we'll see some of that spilling into the north bay valleys for the morning. and more of that fog into san francisco, currently at 58 degrees. so the cooling trend that's getting started right now will reach its peak in terms of the coolest temperatures midway through labor day weekend. and then after that, the heat makes a bit of a comeback as you're about to see in that 7-day forecast. so look at the 24 hour temperature change right now. the greatest contrast we're seeing around those areas south of san jose, out towards the inland east bay. and our wind speeds quite strong through fairfield. that will bring in the low clouds that we have around the inner bay and push them up towards the carquinez strait, maybe up towards the altamont pass. some patchy low clouds inland for the morning and then by mid morning back into the sunshine. and temperatures tomorrow will trend a little bit cooler than the highs we had today. and it's also a cooler star

looks like it's getting almost over or over the east bay hills, which starts to fill into that livermore valley and out into walnut creek. and concord and up into petaluma. and those areas that will start cooling off the interior bay valleys and then by the time we get to thursday, it will cool off the big inland valleys start to cool off. you know, sacramento and davis and those areas. but everybody's going to cool down now as we go into this next few days. so it's not a short term deal. had a couple of days of heat. now we're getting into a few than a couple more than a couple of days, maybe 4 or 5 days of milder cooler weather. not rain, not a cold system like last week, but a system nonetheless that is going to send us off with some cooler weather. temperatures tomorrow will drop from the highs today. couple another three degrees. so that's your thursday forecast. a little bit cooler still. and then as we get into friday, saturday, sunday and monday, temperatures continue to slide down. so great news for cal fire. good news for us as well. get the jackets out this weekend. and just kind of

early this morning, it will try to spread out and make its way across the bay and pushing especially into the inland valleys of the east, the tri-valley a foggy start, but it won't last long and temperatures will warm up to near or slightly above average, 83 degrees in san jose, a whopping 2 degrees above normal, 91 degrees in concord, 3 degrees above normal, not much of a departure. even the hottest spots around antioch and fairfield the low to mid-90s, nothing even approaching triple digit heat inland with temperatures around the bay in the 70s, 70 in san francisco, close to 80 down the peninsula, mostly 80s down the north bay until you go farther inland where you're more likely to get into the 90s in santa rosa and healdsburg tomorrow afternoon. if we look at the ten-day temperature outlook for livermore, yeah, there are some ups and downs, a little kiddie coaster ride, but even the warmest day next week on tuesday, the average high in livermore is 88 degrees. a weekend cooldown and we climb the roller coaster again but only to 3 degrees above normal. let's look at the seven-day forecast quickly. temperatures at the

if we get into about the 7:00, 8:00 hour, you can see a few showers work into the east bay, tri-valleyirst, diablo valley after that and then across san pablo bay, marin, and sonoma. that organized line will pretty much most of the bay. there's not a lot of rain in it, but you'll get some light rain as this moves through and a few follow-up showers could graze through solano county overnight and then that should be the end of our share of this. we'll have interesting looking clouds again tomorrow, but i think our chance for rain ends after midnight. the one little caveat is even though there's light rain coming, there's about a 5% to 10% chance max some of the lightning holds together as this moves over the bay. that would be a bigger condition. we don't want any lightning on the landscape now. there will be plenty of lightning in the sierra. there has been all day. there's a good wetting rain that goes with all this over there as well. there's some good news in terms of that. okay. tomorrow's forecast once we get through the excitement of tonight and all the action that we're seeing o

temperatures tonight will be slightly above average for the east bay and for the santa clara valley. mostly in the 60s but low 50s for much of the north bay valleys and temperatures in the middle portion of the 50s right around the bay. the fog is going to spread out but it is going to be a shallow layer of fog that is going to limit its inland progress as we head through the rest of tonight . so that shallow layer has a hard time with train barriers, especially oakland hills and the lack of a big inland push means the sun comes up, it is not going to have to burn off the fog before starts to warm up our temperatures and so temperatures are going to warm up a bit more quickly even with clouds floating through higher up so it is a layer cake effect. the fog at ground level, the hayes from wildfire smoke and we have clouds higher up. temperatures in the 80s and 90s in the santa clara valley .93 degrees around morgan hill. low to mid 90s east of the oakland hills. hotspots on the map by tomorrow afternoon. but even low to mid 90s not that far above average for this time of year. a mix of

we have drizzle in the north bay, east bay shore still struggling a little bit to get out of that cloud cover the inner east bay. the santa clara valleye've got the low clouds along the coastline, the east bay shore working into the north bay once again. and we do expect the clouds to be with us as we get going on sunday morning. meanwhile, if you're going to lake tahoe, it's a sunny one. mid-fifties in truckee, 66 reported a south lake tahoe into the afternoon today, a mild day, low 70s today, mid 70s tomorrow. today though going to be breezy. windy gusty and dry. and with that there is a red flag warning for this area for elevated fire danger. there's also an advisory on the lake a small craft advisory. so expect a breezy one there at least throughout the afternoon. it expires tonight. meanwhile, for us here at home, the onshore breeze through fairfield is beginning to crank up. when we started this morning, it was 15 to 20mph. sustained. now we're seeing the wind gusts to about 28 and it will continue to ramp up into the afternoon. for temperature wise. we are looking at 67 degrees right now in oakland, 65 in novato. low 70s for yo

forecast highs in the low to mid-90s inland in the east bay for the santa clara valley, mid-80s the mostely scenario, 80s for most of the north bay until you go farther north where temperatures get around 90 degrees for windsor, st. helena. those numbers aren't going to change much around the bay and along the coast. livermore shows a lot of ups and downs, but in the lower 90s, the coolest days around 90 degrees. the warmest days will be about a half dozen degrees above normal. we can handle that the first ten days of august. it looks like a warm start to the new month after the month of july ranked as the warmest or hottest on record for a lot of observation points, not just around the bay area, but much of california. let's look at the seven-day forecast. that shows the inland warmth or heat when temperatures are into the 90s sticking around, low to mid-90s, passing clouds every once in a while, but this isn't the extreme heat we had early july when temperatures were between 105 to 110 degrees inland, more tolerable. low to mid-70s around the bay, not much change there, morning fog giv

valley from our camera on black mountain. let's check back in with meteorologist jessica burch >>we were sitting above average yesterday off in the east bay and down into the santa clara valley with a heat advisory, and today we're seeing very similar trends all the way off into the east bay yes, we're no longer dealing with triple digit weather, but it's still close in a communities like antioch and livermore and the upper 90s this afternoon. today we have 80s all throughout the north bay from novato, stretching up into santa rosa. you pass the golden gate bridge. you're holding on tight to 60s today with some cloudy skies along that coastline near half moon bay. low 60s. they're not necessarily looking nearly as similar as our friends down in the santa clara valley we have upper 80s this afternoon near san jose, low 90s along the foothills near los gatos and morgan hill. and those are the areas we keep a close eye on all the way down into the santa clara valley today, the national weather service has extended that heat advisory that will last until 9 p.m. tonight. here's the reason why we've been dealing with this heat dome in our inlan

we've got a lot of yellow showing up on the center's in also parts of the east bay, the santa clara valley. it's hazy out there all around the bay area right now and will likely be more. so i think as we head toward tomorrow, as we're going to see a little more of smoke kind of settle in. the forecast for tomorrow, we've got a moderate amounts pollutant building up in the north bay still should be good out along the immediate coast. enough of a sea breeze right out the water's keep that quality pretty east bay, south bay are also going to see that haze out there as well as a lot of those plumes continue to build up out the door we go. you can see all around the state. you've got some of the center's taking over the yellow, but boy, southern california, they're looking to the worst of it. they've got numerous fires burning in southern california, getting they read even the purple that some very poor quality around those areas. but right looks like we've got a little bit of monsoonal clouds begin to rotate back in the state. high pressure, going to be building back in here in the 24 hours as

mid- to upper 50s in the santa clara valley, a degree or two below average for pretty much the bay area, mid- to upper 80s in the santa clara valley, inland in the east in the low 90s, the hotspots, mostly 70s around the bay, low 80s down the peninsula and redwood city and the north bay valleys as well, low to mid-80s, cooler along the coast with temperatures topping out in the 60s there. long range we are going to see more turbulence in the forecast on the ten-day temperature outlook for livermore. this is the roller coaster ride i was talking about. the coolest days will be thursday and friday. high temperatures in livermore might not make it out of the 70s. that's the influence of the next storm system, but it doesn't last long, low 90s already by sunday and flirting with 100 degrees monday, tuesday, and wednesday. it won't be a long stretch of really hot weather, but it's definitely going to be hot out there. finishing august with some genuine heat arriving for the first few days of the last week of august. that's the tail end of the seven-day forecast. temperatures spike by sunday and monday. in the short term, a slow decline to below average te

more of a push into the santa clara valley and over the oakland hills into the valleys of the east bay. once that fog will dissipate, then temperatures are going to warm up. what will be a fairly normal start to the day. let's take a look at the forecast lows later on tonight. 50s and 60s jumbled together. a mix of 50s and 60s. the psalm thing to the east of the oakland hills. more 60s there than anything else. around the bay mostly in the 50s. and also in the lower half of the 50s for most of the north bay and those valleys, collecting some of the cool air down to 52 degrees. and in santa rosa early thursday among. then temperatures, they will warm up. but into the low 80s. some spots staying in the upper 70s around napa and vallejo and farther to the east, that's where you find the heat still in the low to mid-90s for concord, antioch, livermore in the mid to upper 90s today. so things will continue to gradually back down. 70s and 8 os on the south end until you get to the santa clara valley where temperatures are likely to reach up into the 80s and the low 90s for los gatos and morg

forecast model is one of the few trying to develop showers and get them to run into the east bay and the santa clara valley by late tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. move of the models don't have that. it is an outside chance. something we will be watching if the showers are thunderstorms, we don't want lightning strikes into the dry fire fuels. there is the fog, the view from the bottom up. it is just shrouding the buildings. the temperatures down to the middle 50s already in san francisco and santa rosa. the temperatures elsewhere, in the 60s, 71 degrees right now in livermore. the fact that the fog has been pushed all of the way down to ground level. you can see the top of the tower indicating the compressed nature of the marine layer that will limit how far in the inland valleys the fog will be able to spread. the terrain, not allowing the shaly fog to make it too far. it will be able to back up quickly, backing up to the coast late morning, plenty of sunshine for temperatures to warm up heading into tomorrow afternoon especially away from the water. running very close to normal around the bay a
