corey dierdorff is on the scene now live on east sitka street. corey, is the fire under control yet? >> reporter: yeah. good morning. that fire is under control, but firefighters still hard at work in the 1,300 block of east sitka here in tampa. here's what we know so far -- that home is going to be a total loss. let's go to video when we first arrived, just before 4:00 a.m., firefighters arriving here reporting that the home was about 50% involved with fire and flames shooting from the front door. firefighter found three victims trucks, with possible injuries. that firefighter calling for medics to check the three out. one victim was transported to tampa general hospital with burn wounds. we've learned at the time of the fire there were four people in the home and two dogs. everyone was able to get out before firefighters arrived. a neighbor said she was praying earlier this morning and heard cussing outside her window. she looked up and saw the flames of the homeowner trying to put the fire out. she grabbed her cell phone, started to call 911,

. >> news channel 8's lindsey mastis is now live from east sitka street. you keep getting new information. what have you learned since we last checked in? >> reporter: well, gayle and gene, so far there, are four people that were inside the house when the fire broke out. and it was called in around 3:50 in the morning and firefighters were able to put but one of those people, a 35- year-old man did get burned. he is in the hospital right now being treated. we are told he has non-life- threatening injuries. you can see the house and what is left of the front of it. i am told that the fire mainly stayed to the front two rooms and that is where a 73-year-old woman, carmen ortiz was staying. i talked with her a moment ago and she tells me that it's horrible. >> i even lost by id there, my glasses, everything. house. i was sweating. >> reporter: and now that was a neighbor who saw the flames. she said she couldn't sleep and lucky she was up and able to call 911. to help the family. i am told that the red cross will be here later on this morning trying to help t

our lindsey mastis pulled up to the scene on east sitka street. and she is joining us live. lindsey, bring us up to date. >> reporter: well, gayle and gene, this is about as close as we're allowed to get. scene with some smoke still in the area. i'm told an arson investigator is here onscene right now trying to figure out how the fire start. and i did get confirmation that a 35-year-old man was taken to the tampa general hospital with burns. i'm still trying to get an update on his condition this morning. now a neighbor tells me that he lives in the home and was trying to put out the fire with a garden hose. she tells us that he didn't have any shoes on and the his face was cut just from trying his best to save this home. now she was actually up because she said she couldn't sleep for some reason. she saw the flames and called 911. >> the older lady, there was an older lady, she was back there twitching like this. so i had to do what's right through god's eyes. hi to help that lady. right now she is looking for a chair to help the woman sit down while it's going on right now
