we start the day across some eastern parts of scotland, central and eastern england, perhaps east walesility, which could give some quite tricky travelling conditions. and whilst some of that will lift and clear, some may well linger for much of the day. our band of rain getting into western scotland, wales, the southwest of england, but petering out as it goes. sunny skies into northern ireland, temperatures of 12—15 degrees, down on where they have been lately. and then through monday night, this first band of rain fizzles away. but another band of wet weather swings in from the west, and this one will bring some really intense downpours into the southwest of england, parts of wales by the end of the night. so as we look ahead to tuesday, we've got a big area of low pressure up to the northwest of us, this frontal system sliding its way through with some heavy rain. there are more weather systems, you'll notice, waiting in the wings. quite an unsettled week ahead. so on tuesday, heavy rain drifting across southern england, wales, the midlands, northern england, up into scotland. behin

the day with light winds, we are likely to see some areas of low cloud and fog across parts of east walese to push its eastwards on monday. weakening as it goes, but could be some quite heavy rain moving across the north of scotland. brighter skies following behind. but some slightly cooler air. these temperatures are still above the seasonal norm, but not feeling quite as mild as it has been. now, i take you to the other side of the atlantic to show you this swirl of cloud, this is ex—hurricane nicole. the remnants of the storm drifting across the eastern side of the us. and then notice the stripe of cloud here, putting in from the west. this is a frontal system which will essentially subsume our ex—hurricane. these weather systems combining and moving across the atlantic as an area of low pressure. and with that injection of tropical moisture, well, this weather system could actually bring quite a lot of rain as it passes close to the uk through the middle of the week. so, on tuesday, we will see this band of heavy rain moving actually quite slowly eastwards, so quite a wet day for many
