the eastern, was it all that good, roger? >> well i think when you look at that eastern crop, you know, ohio, we were in a crop last year that was really really far behind. so it was nice to see what we saw out there in those fields. maybe it's not home all the way by any stretch but it is a lot further along than it was a year ago. indiana has got a lot of issues that have faced that crop this year. it went in wet, turned dry, that cool july kind of helped it get through, but as things got here into august it started losing some ground. there's some tip back on a lot of those years we pulled out of there. >>> get into illinois you wanted to see some of those big numbers come out of there but we just didn't find a whole lot of them. but i'll tell you what, we cross that river and all of a sudden it was like [ singing [ in iowa we started pulling those big numbers out of the state. it was like, ah, there we go. it was really wild. crossed that river and, boom, it changed. >> we have got some maturity issues up in south dakota

also the lower eastern shore as the day went along.t shower activity has pulled on towards the east. we broke out into sunshine out there. the very thin clouds over the top of the baltimore area. like we said yesterday, this looks a lot worse than what it actually. very thin clouds. there is the heavier rainfall on the eastern shore. the larger picture shows what is going on. we're getting a moisture flow coming in off the gulf of mexico, causing the showers and thunderstorms. and what is going to be happening is this little area of high pressure moves into the region. that's going to bring some nice weather for about the next day and a half or so. then it's going to retreat to the north and allow all that hot air that we have seen down to south, all that hot air is going to start working its way in our direction. right now maryland's most powerful radar is indicating some shower and even some thunderstorm activity over the lower eastern shore. just south of ocean city right now. pretty good thunderstorm going on over assateague and sh

there is the thunderstorms right now on the eastern shore. maryland's most powerful radar, going to show you that in just a second. we do have a flash flood watch because of all the water that came down overnight and during the day today until 2:00 in the morning for baltimore city, baltimore county, carroll, frederick, going through anne arundel county and on the eastern shore. these are flash flood warnings in effect until 6:45 because of all the water that came down during the day today. there is our radar, showing the heavy shower and thunderstorm activity. and some right now passing just south of the downtown area. but we will see some more here in the baltimore region. forecast-wise right now, temperatures in reisterstown 73. did you just see it change from 72? live data. you can only get that here on abc 2. i mean, this is up-to- the-minute stuff. fallston 71. 72 in arnold. 72 in downtown. gherman town at 71 degrees. your forecast, the scattered showers continue to pull towards the north and east. during the day tomorrow, a few scatter

eastern shores and delaware. heavy rain going on over there. and some folks will see it probably 1 to 3 inches of rain in some locations. possibly, with 85 now, as you can see out to the southeast of us, a lot of rain from extreme southern portions of dorchester county. all the way through the central eastern shore into northern sections of delaware. down to easton, heavy showers. and down to the south, still more activity from cambridge down to hoopersville. and a little in the southern portion of maryland. another batch to the mountains across to the west of us. so in between, we're kind of stuck with not much. there may be a few widely scattered showers. but there are chances between now and the weekend of some more scattered showers. along with more humid conditions, but not all that hot.

eastern europe's eastern partnerships politically and mitarily are reay focused on energy, and they aretending their outreach to euro-asia, which expands from basically northeastern europe to southeast europe and then into the caucuses or euro-asia. how this is seen as threatening i believe is really being driven today by how the politics and economics weigh more heavily on the military planning then we might recognize. whether pipelines become feasible in transported over the next five to seven years, let's say, those pipelines that haven't even been built yet will really i thinkrive the issue of how rus-european relations take shape. i think the russian military is caught in the security dilemma of how it tries to plan any kind of military mission, as you've heard on the first panel, on its western periphery. and yet we have seen that when provocations or when planning which leads to provocations do erupt as in the russo-georgian war a year ago, you can se how that has impact and then followed by the gnu at 2009 russian-ukrainian pipeline competition. you can see how these issues real

it's going to be a little touch and go on the eastern shore. high temperatures today, definitely on the warm side, 95 in hagerstown. 91 in easton. and it has felt a lot warmer than that throughout the day. temperatures right now have settled down somewhat, 79 in easton. 86 still in ocean city. so a warm, sticky night for us. satellite composite shows we had a few clouds around moving into this evening. and there is a line of storms that just sort of bubbled up, came across the region, now over on the eastern shore. soon it's going to be out of there. we're looking at another half hour to an hour before it's cleared out. beyond that, we're looking at the slight chance of a couple of showers and thunderstorms still possible in isolated areas as we move into the rest of the overnight hours. as we widen the picture, you can see as we head into the rest of the forecast, things don't look too bad. we'll have a front that is moving through by tuesday night. so we're looking at a repeat tomorrow night of what we're seeing tonight. and then by wednesday
