we're kind of in a range with ebay. tech has been really strong, but if you get a chance to buy a good company on sale, you do it. unfortunately, i think it could go a little bit lower. - all right, now let's take a look at ibm as well. ibm actually lifted its forecast. it's doing some cost-cutting, and it's getting into the cloud area more. what do you think about this stock and this company? - well, it's a great company. they are really well diversified, and you see that people like when they do things like getting into businesses where they can compete, like the cloud. so, they are coming out with a pretty solid quarter. they are guiding forward pretty well, and people like the results. - shares traded around $202 after the close last night. would you be a buyer at these levels? - you know, i don't think that you'll go wrong over the long term holding a stock like this'i would wait a little bit. - and finally, intel. a lot of people saw this coming: earnings slid, but then again, everybody knows that pc sales are dow

paypal, of course a huge part of ebay and ebay's success. had 4.7 million subscribers to ebay or paypal. that is a 17% increase. that looks great, right? well, they were 20ing a -- expecting a 21% increase. getting 17%. expecting 21% that is dig disappointment. that may be one of the reasons why. liz: remember, paypal is the big winner of this company. people are saying that the child is now more successful than the parent. paypal sprung out of ebay or purchased by of ebay many years ago. it has done such an unbelievable business. when it disappoints, that is disappointment. overall you see a big beat on the top and bottom line, not bad for ebay. that kind of thing gets the markets nervous. i would venture to bet, david, that's what spooked investors. david: investors were not particularly spooked by ben bernanke today. federal reserve chairman ben bernanke put off any talk of slowing down bond purchases or tapering to keep interest rates down. yesterday, kansas city fed president esther george was crystal clear that she thought tapering dow

but you know, on a chart, it looks very weak. - and what about ebay? you mentioned ebay. new products helping there as well, or just a solid company base? - i like ebay a lot more until they are having some competition in the paypal space. they are seeing some competition in mobile processing from other companies, so i don't like it as much as i have in the past. yahoo, google, i like a lot stronger. - what stocks would you avoid this summer? what stocks are likely to have a meltdown as we go into fall? - gld, i try to short that on any rally. also, anything global-based. i look at cleveland cliffs, x, valee, pbr - i think these stocks are all headed lower. i do not think china is coming around the table just yet. we have weakness in europe as well. also if you look at any of the currencies: the fxa, fxe, fxy, fxb. all the currencies against the united states are very, very weak. i think those are going to continue to be weak throughout the rest of the year. - and as far as those other stocks, are those stocks where traders have just made a lot of money - they want to tak

we've got earnings from yahoo, intel, ibm, microsoft, google and ebay. the best opportunity here? let's make the call. what are we expecting in technology? sort of like a wide array of expectations. >> well, you mentioned ibm in there, i don't think we can get too excited about that one. looking further down the road, that's going to impact hewlett because the services side was one of the places they were going to be optimistic. yahoo has had a heck of a run. and i have a hard time imagining that marissa has blown the doors off. >> i think yahoo is going to be more about what is said than the numbers. and i think the same thing is true for microsoft. microsoft unveils the big reorg, so i don't think what they have to say as far as the numbers is going to matter much either. >> i think q2 earnings is baked in the cake as far as the numbers are concerned. i think it's all about the commentary for the second half. and when you think about the bernanke dialed back some optimism from a few weeks ago about the u.s. economy here, i think you have to be careful
