for more on joaquin bri eggers joins me this morning. as far as joaquin still packing a punch over the bahamasian islands. not expected to downgrade from a major hurricane until we hit early sunday. but the track is looking much better for us. the cone is getting more narrow what it means it's also going away. forecast track may wobble in between here as you get into tuesday early morning. well offshore for us. it will churn up the seas something fierce as far as though rains along the east coast i will show you that set up here as we head through the weekend. we will watch for flooding rains. it doesn't really directly have to do with joaquin. low pressure system along the east coast state the carolinas moisture. the track of that hurricane staying well out to sea. we'll continue to watch as we head through the weekend and the extended forecast still to come. as you say hurricane joaquin unlikely to directly impact the east coast. but in the bahamas it's been a much different story. the category four storm is wind and torrential rain. m

let's head over to meteorologist bri eggers tracking it for us today . >> reporter: this just blows my mind. chris lambert and you were sitting in the weather center and we could not take our eyes off this eye right here very textbook imagery we're getting here with this massive storm here, a category five. you can see how close it is to the southwestern coast of mexico here, expected to make landfall within the next few hours. we're watching that very closely closely. you did mention the strongest storm on record for the western hemisphere so we can technically call it the strongest hurricane ever recorded for the eastern north pacific and atlantic. the minute pressure right now is only 9 millibars higher than the lowest pressure ever recorded worldwide. that was typhoon ted back in 19 1979 so again talking about a very impactful storm, expected to make landfall as a category five hurricane. this just erupted overnight last night. one of those signatures of el nino is the warm ocean temperature in the part say civic and that just fuels this storm making it stronger and stronger as man

let's get right to bri eggers tracking patricia. >>> adam and elizabeth it's been mesmerizing can't take our eyes off of this. watching the eye of the storm this is just textbook perfect imagery that we're seeing here with this massive and very power powerful storm. you watch the eye though it seems to at least disappear a touch and i think those wind speeds are going down at current wind speeds right now 190 miles per hour so it's not far off from 200 but it looks like the storm is starting to weaken. it will do so much more intense intensely as we head through the overnight hours but still it has made one for the record books. strongest on record for the wherein hemisphere so we can technically call to the strong strongest hurricane. minimum pressure earlier today, 879 millibars not far off from the worldwide record holder for a tropical cyclone typhoon tip category five hurricane to make landfall as we head through the next three, maybe four hours on that southwestern coast of mexico and as we head through the overnight hours, i mentioned this storm dies down about as quickly as it in

meteorologist bri eggers here . >>> for some of the coldest temperatures we've seen so far this season, now current temperatures you look at these number and you think that's not all that bad right around 60 degrees for most of us. but the wind is kicking up quit a bit from the west and northwest, subsequently between ten and 15 mile-per-hour sustained winds so that adds a bit of a chill to the air and that rain earlier this morning came along with a cold front. but that's not all. we do see another cold front that does reinforce that shot of cold air for the weekend and as you mentioned, elizabeth, we will be seeing only some of the coldest temperatures that we've seen. this weekend. time to bundle up. not yet tonight though. partly cloudy. it will be chilly but not too bad. mid 30's to mid 40's, the closer you get to the city of boston and then tomorrow these temperatures already start to that's not as low as it goes. we'll get to that extended forecast coming up in just a bit. >>> now to the sunday show down patriots getting ready to take on the colts since the defategate drama bega

bri eggers is here with the forecast . >>> nothing spooky or creepy in store for us this weekend. what a difference from just 24 hours ago to the tune of about 10 to 15 degrees but you have to remember those highs into the 70's yesterday very uncommon for this time of year. we're sitting at more seasonable temperatures in the upper 50's to right around 60 degrees but from time to time it may not feel like it with a chilly breeze coming out of the west and northwest at 10 to 20 miles per hour. we'll continue with shallering in that cooler air from the northwest but as you can see nothing really to grab from with this satellite radar imagery. we are in for a dry weekend. mostly clear, chilly temperatures tonight, 33 to 40 for those morning lows into tomorrow. tomorrow halloween forecast looking very dry and cool for us us. 51 to 56 for the temperatures but the bright sunshine making it feel even better but once the sun goes down and the trick or cooling off mid to upper 40's is knocking trick-or-treating forecast. but again, dry for us, possibly a few sprinkles on sunday but then we

let's get write over to bri eggers for a check of the weekend forecast. bri? >> reporter: cold one tore many of us today. get outside of the city of boston well into the 30's, nashua 39, bedford as well. 34 in norwood and even for martha's vineyard so, yes, some patchy frost that we saw very early this morning, but those temperatures are already making their rebound. it is warm, 20 degrees in norwood, already with the sun having risen just before the 7:00 hour. now a bit of a president as you get into norwood and boston and down on the cape. that will stick around with us into the afternoon. it's not a nuisance, just sort of there. ten to 15 mile-per-hour winds and a few clouds passing through but those will move on out of here and melt away sunshine, winning out for us once again. high pressure keeping things nice and dry and also giving us that temperature boost. not just today taking those high highs into the mid to upper 60's to near 70. could hit that mark in some locations but also even amplified tomorrow well into the 70's for many locations, it feels m

bri eggers shows us how to make pumpkin risotto in today's's what's cooking. >> fall is in full effect. cooler temperatures bring to mind dishes that warm you up from the inside out. >> new england fall flavors really are... you know, it's all about the har vebs. it ice all about rich, sweet and savery going on at the same time. you know, get your winter on. today we are going to be making a roasted pumpkin risotto. >> be sure to use a sugar pumpkin. one of the smaller, rounder ones. cut it in half. scoop it out. rub olive oil, salt and pepper on and place it in the oven for 45 minutes. >> so while our pumpkin cooks, we are going to get going on the actual risotto. >> first steps. warm up onion and olive oil. then add garlic. stir in the rice. >> it will release a lot of the starch. that gives it that thick, creaminess that makes it that stick to your ribs kind of dish. >> next, add salt and some white wine. keep stirring. >> the more action you give it, the more starch you are going to release from the rice and the thicker the risotto is going to be in the end. >> time to add stock. >
