elaine cobb is in paris with the latest. elaine, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. the massive man hunt for the two fugitive brothers has shifted closer to paris. there are reports they're holed up at a business near the charles de gaulle airport and they're holding hostages. some media report one hostage has been killed in a shoot-out. they've denied that. two runways have been closed at the airport amid fears that the brothers have a rocket lawn cher. the cabinet has been meeting with francois hollande. the interior minister said after that cabinet meeting only that a police operation is under way. authorities in france are focusing their hunt for two heavily armed brothers north of paris. police are searching homes and closing roads in countryside towns in fear of reports they robbed a gas station and later fled to the woods on foot. authorities say 30-year-old shareef kouachi and his 34-year-old brother said entered the "charlie hebdo" offices wednesday and killed 12 people. whether that was their motiv

elaine cobb is in paris. good morning, elaine. >> reporter: good morning. france is waking up to a new sense of unity and solidarity. voters of the giant rally in paris are all over the front pages with headlines, "united for freedom," "liberty on the move," and "we are one people." the french are calling it their biggest rally ever. more than a million people crowded into the public square. it took them nearly two hours to move them all out along three separate routes to the finishing point. they waved giant pencils in the air and sang "charlie, charlie," and sang the french "national anthem." at the head of the march, families of the 17 victims of last week's attacks as well as surviving journalists and cartoonists from "charlie hebdo," the satirical newspaper that was the scene of the first shooting wednesday. president francois hollande greeted each of them, sharing a few words or an emotional hug. there was international unity, too, with leaders from more than 30 countries joining president hollande at the head of the march. it was an interesting mix t

elaine cobb is at the scene in paris where an intense manhunt is under way. elaine elaine, good morning. >> reporter: the french minister says they have beefed up security. police and military placed at sensitive sensitive sites. they say they will do everything to catch the men who carried out the attack this morning. it was shortly after 11:00 a.m. when two armed and masked men walked into the entrance lobby of the headquarters of charlie hebdo and opened fire. one eyewitness said they asked for some people by name which scared them. police believe this may have been a very organized attack because these also left rapidly in a getaway car. police have now launched a manhunt for three armed men. >> beyond what you've already said, what more can you tell us about what police know and where the manhunt stands? >> for the moment, the manhunt is under way. they're asking anyone who has seen anything to help. several people in the area, in fact, took videos from their windows. in one we see two gunman getting out of a car. they walk up to an injured policeman and
