elizabeth warren tried to read that sentence. what happens?>> she was silenced by her senate colleagues. ultimately, by mitch mcconnell. there were quite a few little steps that have been very dramatic, doing that very dramatic evening but ultimately it was the majority leader mitch mcconnell who insisted that she was violating a very arcane senate rules that you're not supposed to say anything derogatory about any of her senate colleagues. senator barbara mikulski told me when i interviewed her for this but you saying that rule was made back in the early 1900s, maybe the late 1800s, when it wasn't uncommon for a gentleman to show up on the senate floor or the house floor inebriated and making a real rockets rest of the proceedings. and they were not supposed to do that so that developed this rule that you can't just come in drunk and start to slander somebody that you are angry at. but that was the role that was brought up, because mcconnell and others were saying you're basically slandering senator sessions and you are not allowed to do that
