chief meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station wbbz is following the storm and tells us what to expect in the coming days. a tree of oh storms. genevieve is way out in the central pacific but we do have iselle making its approach and over toward the big islands, and that will be happening in the next couple of hours, perhaps keeping the hurricane's intensity if that's the case, the first hurricane to make landfall. right behind it we have julio. not too far away from iselle. here's the track. it will be working its way across the big island, then taking a position just to the south of maui and oh roy huh as we head through friday. all of these times, local hawaiian time. them by saturday it's well off to the west and no longer an issue. the winds will be strong, especially across the big i hand. this is where you have complex rain following up. then tropical storm winds in place like maui and across the southern end of oh roy huh and the wind field is going to work its way parter off to the south and seems to be bag issue. we have hurricane warnings up and that includes the big

eric fisher, chief meteorologist of our boston station wbz shows us what's in store for today. >> over the weekend we had a lot of heavy rain across the southwest. rain brought rains to place like los angeles and san diego, places that often don't pick up any rainfall in the summer. now, this is one of the driest spots in the entire country. they're in a severe drought if not worse if not the most of nevada. we've had a lot of rain in short order. we'll track the isn't a little farther to the north as we track the system. reaching up into idaho, much of the great basin, seeing scattered thunderstorms again, still a flash flooding risk. we'll continue to track a little farther off to the north and east. with all these storms, always the concern of lightning strikes that could cause more wildfires. we'll be watching this situation very carefully. also news in the tropics, it's not a big bertha. it's a little bit ragged, but it will strengthenover the nefrt 24 to 48 hours. as we head through today, it tracks farther off toward the north and as it passes between the east coast and bermuda,

eric fisher, meteorologist of our boston station wbbz is very busy this morning. >> we have three storms we're watching including genevieve that's well out in the ocean. of course, a lot of attention is on iselle which is close to hawaii. behind that is julio, about 500 miles away from the big island. still on its own but soon following a similar path. these storms in r in water that's not necessarily hot but warm enough. these are sea surface temperatures. usually your storms are stronger when they come from the south where the water is warmer. it should be enough to keep iselle a hurricane or at the very least a strong tropical storm at landfall it will cross the entire chain and expect by the time we head toward friday evening. there are a number of hurricanes up. in 21 years the warning is up for the big island. the entire chain under watches or wrarning. behind that we have julio. the track looks a little farther to the north and may spare hawaii for the worst. i'm meteorologist eric fisher for cbs news. >>> a fast moving wild five forced the i evacuation for 275 homes in oregon, ov

we are joined now my neat rolls eric fisher of our sister station wbz, eric what is going on? >> we are seeing a lot of heavy rainfall this weekend, jeff, we have an area of low pressure spinning here in the southwest, unusually strong for this time of year, rain in places like los angeles and san diego and almost never see rainfall in the middle of summer. these are spots that can absolutely use it. this is one of the boston glares the country with regard to drought, california in severe drought, big chunks of nevada and, also, the problem is too much rain outs out west. local rainfall, still numerous flash flood watches, the rainwater is going over roads, only takes two feet of water to take a car and take it down the street. on the other coast, east coast we are watching north carolina and south carolina, we have had a lot of weekend rain here, so we until monday more locally heavy rainfall, especially the eastern halves of the state, and this could cause more flash flooding issues, we also are tracking tropical storm be bertha, you notice right at the end here toward the e

let's bring in eric fisher, the chief meteorologist with our boston tation wbz. eric, let's start out in the pacific northwest where there is big concern about thunderstorms. >> jim, these are thunderstorms that are dry, meaning they're still raining but that rain evaporates before it reaches the ground. they still have the lightning, so red flag warnings out here, much of washington and oregon, east of the cascades, gusty winds with those storms and, of course, a lot of big heat and dry weather this summer so far. we have seen several of the fires burning in central and eastern washington. also, the gulch fire in oregon. this is a fire, jim, that was started by a lightning strike on thursday. >> axelrod: nothing dry about what's going on in the southwest. >> no, this is a different type of thunderstorm. this rain is reaching the ground in ernest. powereful area of low pressure that's down near the baja peninsula, so widespread flash flood watches are out here. the main concerns are for rapidly rising water. mud and debris flows are possible. some dangerous travel
