we are just joined by supervisor eric mar, this is a hearing that i called forward in the context of having years dialogue about the use of tasers or electronic controlled weapons in san francisco. this is something that has been taken up in this time, by the police commission, but since, it is discussion that is happening ongoing, with many of our committees across san francisco, i wanted to bring it forward as a hearing to be able to get some input from the board of supervisors and also to hear what plans are from the police department as well about how they want to move forward. in the middle of this discussion, is also the work of the crisis intervention team. there was a resolution that was passed last march by the police commission that gave broad latitude for the police departments to really strengthen the crisis intervention work and team and training. and i would hope to get an update on that today. i believe that the greatest use of or great use of police department energy is around people who are dealing with mental health issues and mental health crisis and the crisis int

supervisor eric mar, supervisor mark farrell and supervisor christina olague. the district handles the lion's share of golden gate park. our officers are very well-informed on how to work in and about golden gate park. it's a unique place, because there are streets and alleys and avenues, but there are also meadows and it's a very hard place to get around. so the officers are a tremendous resource and in working some of the events this summer and later on in the fall, the officers at richmond station are really grounded and and well-informed where it is their services are to be provided. on my staff i have one sergeant, sergeant stephanie long, three officers and two civilians, my secretary who is fabulous and jeff, the vehicle maintenance officer. the captain's staff really is a tremendous asset. they keep me in line and let me know what it is that i'm not up to par on and they are really a tremendous asset to make sure that the richmond district is getting the services that they are entitled to. i have four plainclothes officers, and we have sergeant cox here

eric mar, went on record supporting exonerate the killers and sponsored legislation because the murders were so long ago she should be forgiven. i don't think any murder in this country should be forgiven under any circumstances at any time. we all run into a problem with the police department and sometimes we have problems with them and sometimes we have battles with them, but nothing justifies murdering a policemen when he is doing his job and letting the murderers go free and then having legislators at city hall at the board of supervisors run on a mandate that doesn't even mention or have the media talk about it. that that man sponsored legislation that let four murderers off the hook because it was so long ago. i think anybody here or anybody listening tonight should one, thank you warren hinkle for coming out with an article in his newspaper, the argonaut that goes into how eric mar alone, two that you are going to give out an award, give an award to mr. warren hinkle for writing the story about the death that took place x number of years ago that is still on the books as not bein
