. >> i'm eric thomas. developing news out of oakland. some commuter trains could be delayed by the investigation into the head-on collision of two amtrak trains in jack london square. it with was a low speed collision, still, 16 people were hurt. amy hollyfield is live at the scene. >> reporter: take a look behind me. crews are working to get this track cleared. they have to deal with investigators who want to get a good look at the scene no word on when this station will open. video we shot 20 minutes ago, crews pulled the two trains apart. one inbound train slammed into a stopped train at 10:00 last night. the stopped train was unloading passengers. the moving one also had people onboard. there were 16 passengers who were hurt. injuries consisted of bumps and bruises and possibly bun broken arm. passengers and witnesses say with it was an awful thing to hear -- to hear, see and experience. >> me and my mom were waiting for him all of a sudden we hear this big explosion. we thought it was a forklift. we were going back and forth trying

. >> i'm eric thomas. even in the rain oakland has joined the nationwide movement. occupy oakland is following in the footsteps of the original protests on wall street. amy hollyfield is live near oakland city hall where folks are camped out. >> reporter: they are serious about occupying oakland. even in the rain. check out behind me, not only a ton of tents, a third tent, that is where they are serving not just coffee and peanut butter, chicken, beef stew, they have served hundreds. all donated they say. at one point at its peak yesterday afternoon they estimate there were 500 people out here this is part of the occupy wall street movement that started a couple of weeks ago and is spreading across the country. demonstrators are upset about the posts corporations enjoy while many in the middle class are struggling to find jobs. bailout, war. protesters admit their message is not entirely focused. occupy oakland activists say they have the support of the mayor and local union leaders. police have been closely watching the situation but have not made demands about the

i'm eric thomas. that breaking news, did you feel it? there it is on the seismograph 30 minutes ago a magnitude 3.6 quake hit near berkeley the epicenter east of memorial stadium. we felt it roll through the studio here in san francisco. we've had viewers calling in saying they felt it in marin, albany, san mateo. no reports of any injuries or damage. >> for more on this morning's quake we are joined by a doctor from uc berkeley's seismology lab not far from the embassy center. katie is heading to berkeley we'll -- we'll have more coming up. let's do bring in the doctor to talk about how this quake was 3.9 then downgraded to 3.6. can you tell us about the science and how you felt it? >> it woke me up this morning. i knew it was roughly 3 1/2 that was my first guess. i looked at the computers and the authoritative magnitude is 3.6. it is based on models of the seismic waves recorded by the earthquake as opposed to just measuring the peak amptitude which is the earlier estimates. >> did, i know it is early to -- doctor, i know it is early
