. >> reporter: well, wolf, eric trump took the stand after his brother donald trump jr. had finished testifying. it was just before noon. and immediately the attorney general's office honed in on these financial statements that are at the heart of this case. they asked eric trump if he had any involvement in preparing the statements. he said he didn't. he said he wasn't even aware of them until this case came to fruition. well, then the assistant attorney general asking the questions spent an hour and 15 minutes showing eric trump e-mails going back to 2010 showing him clips of his video deposition that was taken earlier this year where he was asked about these financial statements, trying to get limb to concede that he had known about these statements and that he did respond to questions from the company's controller about how to value some of these properties. an e-mail was shown with eric trump saying to put a value of about $200 million on a golf course. well, eric trump dug becoming agi agitated, visibly frustrated, raising his voice and saying he fully understood t

the entire time that eric trump has been on the stand and in court, eric, he has tried to essentially say this stuff is not mine. this is not on my shoulders. this is something else's. today, it was this is not what an executive at my level focuses on. yesterday, it was i focus on construction. i don't focus on appraisals. did the judge seem to buy what he was saying? >> you know, it's really hard to say because the judge, he gives everyone a chance to say what they want to say on the stand without making any faces or asking any obvious questions that could say what he's thinking, but we have one big clue and that happened before the trial even started when the judge ruled that all of the defendants were liable for fraud. just based on the evidence that had been gathered to far. so that was the state's biggest claim. i think the judge has good reason to be skeptical only because the state did present eric trump on the stand today with documents internal trump organization documents suggesting that he was aware of the statement of financial condition at the center of this case. and his

eric trump says he's fired up to testify. >> i think that's definitely true. >> definitely true. you also know better than most, donald trump and discipline aren't often in the same sentence. what are the risks there? >> there are a number of risks. this is the kind of setting he has not been in in ten years. he last testified -- other than previously briefly in this case, he last testified in may 2013 in a civil case in chicago against him that he won. a lot has happened since then. this is going to be a performance. one-on-one direct interpersonal confrontation, he tends to back off. i don't see that being the case here. he is so angry. he has had time to look at how this courtroom is, how this judge is. he's been sitting in the trial in the courtroom, which he didn't have to do, over a couple of days. but who knows? he has a history of making extemporaneous remarks that don't always help him. if he gets worked up we could see him get himself in trouble. i think you're seeing, in what he might be attempting to do, he's not good at discipline but he can be good at theatrics. they

the civil prosecutor spent part of today asking eric trump about allen weisselberg's severance package. weisselberg served three months at rikers island for tax fraud and was removed from cfo of the trump organization. when he left he was given a $2 million severance package with strings attached, including a provision specifying that weisselberg could not communicate with, provide information to, or otherwise cooperate in any way with any other person or entity. and weisselberg has been true to his word. he has never cooperated with manhattan prosecutors in donald trump's stormy daniels hush money case, one of the four criminal trials that trump is currently facing. and eric trump says that he was responsible for the weisselberg severance deal.
