espn is one that you mentioned.l was another, number one with kids 2 to 11 this past year. very successful. for the distributor, for the viewer, and of course for disney. abc is another channel. we've managed to have great relationships with distributors foreign wide, cable operators, satellite providers, and have cut long-term deals with many of them, without roadway rancor, without having to resort to saber rattling and the like. and one of the reasons we've been able to do that is, these deals are mutually beneficial. we're providing them with great values to sell to their consumers and they're paying us the right price, fair price, for these channels. how we offer them to these distributors and what price they pay is not something, you know, we get into with you publicly, except to say with espn and with abc and disney, you know, it's a great collection of channels for them and for the consumers and we're going to continue to invest in. >> look, the bottom line is, they pay out because they want it. they want es

people on espn heat the statistics. they say things that just -- you hear them. in my date we valued things like stick to it as and moxie, not things like numbers. a player, if they had a good cut and with the right height and the right skin color, but right there underneath it is like this, and that is the kind of player you wanted to see. now, that makes the statistics bellerophon. upsets all right people. on the flip side is hyper focused on statistics and means that people miss the humor start -- tumors' -- human stories i was just in brazil. there are about to have both the world cup and the olympics back-to-back in 2014 and 2016. there was this old professor who was interviewing in real. kneele liberal reform may be bringing people out of poverty. he is against neil liberal reforms. what is that? you might call it a speed up. so we were on the beach. yes. i've seen those. and he says statistics, they're like the bathing suit, they show so much, but they hide the most important part. and i think that is very true. now, the third tight of sports journalism th

you can pay up for espn if you want it.going to have to get a lot of other channels that maybe you don't want. are we seeing the accurate numbers in terms of viewership? or is it very different, basically, with verizon saying it is different? >> i think what verizon is trying to do at the margins, interesting for the smaller guys, say for ovation, deal b wi ing with time warner cable, i think you can apply that type of approach for the smaller guys. if you look at people like espn, of course, you've got very heavy sports costs. it couldn't work. you'd kind of really break down the whole ecosystem, if you will. and certainly there are some large programmers like viacom, mtv networks, not nearly as well compensate bd by the viewership. the demographics of viewership are very different than for cnbc or espn and such. it's an interesting concept. i think you can apply it eventu eventually. it's not going to go to the core for a while. it's interesting to get the realtime measurement of the viewing. i think that's something that
