also with us, nbc news terrorism analyst evan coleman.om, there are several reports out that airlines are debating whether or not to suspend flights around that area. we know at least the british airline is doing that at this point. what's the update there? >> well, the uk has essentially prohibited all flights into and out of the sinai at the moment. lufthansa, the german carrier and its subsidiary germanwings is also doing the same thing. the united states does not have any airlines flying into or out of sharm el-sheikh, but we did check with delta airlines today. they fly a direct flight into dubai. at times they have transited over that region, but delta telling us they are no longer flying over the sinai region. i will tell you also that the uk prime minister david cameron said just a short time ago that he says it is looking increasingly likely that a bomb was the case. and then he also said in another conversation, he says it is more likely than not that a bomb was, in fact, what brought down this plane. and the associated press re

evan coleman is with us by telephone. t you've learned in the last two hours since this bombing? >> sure, we've seen a claim of responsibility that we believe is in fact legitimate, issued by isis in which they've claimed credit for the attacks in beirut. they've said that it was only -- according to them anyway, it's only one suicide bomber. and they said a man on a motorcycl motorcycle. if that's the case, that's interesting, because the only thing close to this attack was by jebba al nusra, otherwise known as al qaeda in syria. it's an expansion of isis activity not just on the border regions of lebanon, syria, but into lebanon proper. and obviously that's an effort to try to strike back at hezbollah for its increasing role inside syria particularly in terms of confronting isis. >> evan, the fact that the video begins with bombing aftermath, then we can hear and see a secondary explosion, that does fly in the face of the single suicide bomber theory. >> correct. and it's -- look, to be clear, this is the group that also

. >> joining us on the phone is nbc news terrorism expert evan coleman.s develop this afternoon. we have reports now out of the british. we have a u.s. official saying that evidence indicates this could have been a bomb. what do you make of that, from your vantage point, as someone who studies terrorist groups and extremist groups? >> i think we need to take a step back here and take a deep breath, because there's a lot of speculation here that this is linked to terrorism and there's no public evidence to that effect whatsoever. there have been several would-be isis claims of responsibility for this possible suspected bombing, and yet none of these claims have any objective evidence whatsoever that would have showed isis was involved in this. when aqap carried out the underwear bomb plot, which was not successful, within hours of that plot, aqap had pictures of the bombers, they had definitive evidence that they could show to the world that they were behind that plot. and that evidence is necessary for a terrorist group that wants to prove its own propaga

. >> joining us right now is nbc terrorism analyst evan coleman. thanks for being here.cern are these threats in the united states? how should we be dealing with this? >> when you see a video of times square it generates fear but it's important to emphasize the footage in this video of times square, isis didn't take this. this was taken from stock video. it's always disturbing when you see someone we're a suicide bomb vest. isis would love to attack the u.s. homeland. i can tell you from working with the donl and fbi on isis cases here in this country dourks not see the advance networks here that so far what we've seen in belgian and paris. you don't see people building suicide bomb vests. that doesn't mean there's not a threat. the threat is more about lone actors, one or two guys. again it doesn't take a ph.d. to murder someone. we're not seeing the level of sophistication so far as in europe because there aren't as many folks in the u.s. who have traveled to syria, got training from isis. most of the folks here in the u.s. they are limited to internet contact. they do
