i liked that there were some schools like everett better really going to diversify going from 81% to 50%. i was concerned there was a significant drop for the same sub group for francisco middle school. given that we have malcolm x and carver going so far out, my one feedback would be whether we can consider having aptos being one of those school. it is one of the middle schools that has successfully closed the gap in ela and math for latino students. looking at where we feed, it makes sense to look at what schools are successful a closing the gap. years from now, hopefully all of our schools will be closing the gap and it will not be an issue. i would like to look to the data in terms of which schools are currently doing that. as far as we -- as long as we're having them go so far out of their community as a feeder school. the middle school diversity, language pathway. those are most of my comments for right now. there is a lot of information. i really appreciate all the parents the came out tonight to give us their feedback. we have several other meetings as well. i am really excit

we have a victory by default but it's a victory nonetheless that we're able to keep the beacon at everett middle school for one more year and that we've been granted a community process. however, i do want to say i think we really need to should at the lowest performing schools and it's been mentioned over and over and even though everett isn't in supervisor dufty's district we consider that the greater mission and it's one of the lowest performing schools and it's a tragedy to move resources out of that school and we should really think about maintaining all of the performing schools with all the resources that they have, including beacon which did suffer a severe cut. i also wanted to advocate for other programs and ask the school district to support c.b.o.'s and their effort to get funding. for example, meppy on 24th street was completely cut. they do a wonderful tutoring program and we need to have the school district help to support other c.b.o.'s and understand holistically that schools cannot be the only answer to this low performance. i also want to make recommendations as what is

some of the comments made about everett, i need to make a clarification. the reason we put isa and others on there is that we've written a magnet grant to put those on there. we have a huge magnet grant. we're hoping to get that by september. that grant is to develop a feeder program for the school of the arts. it will bring in resources to create a school of the arts program within the school if people choose. we are trying to take schools better on the bubble to make them excellent schools. when you start looking at this, i think the information is good for people to see what it does in terms of the makeup of the preschool. that is critical information for everyone. someone may wonder why we are taking neighborhoods over improving schools. wthese models address those two issues. it really does address academic student achievement. it really does address trying to create some type of neighborhoods. at the same time, we're trying to have schools better balance. if you really want to turn around a school, you cannot have a school in san francisco that just
