this happened in san francisco's bayview right near fairfax avenue and catalina street. shortly before 3:00 this afternoon. now, police say the incident started when officers a suspect, but then a second male unrelated to that arrest engaged with the officers. according to police, uniformed officers then arrived in a marked patrol vehicle and realized the man was armed with what they believed was a gun at least one officer opened fire, killing the man. cell phone video here shows the man pointing an object at police. that video is now part of the investigation. some neighborhood residents reacting to the shooting today. his community continues to become wound on top of one. we never have a chance to heal, so no healing has been taking place. a woman who wished only to be identified as missing said she saw the aftermath and realized the man killed was her neighbor. several doors down, she says he suffers from mental illness. and then i heard screaming. so i came outside. when i got to the top of the hill, there was the body of my neighbor laying on the ground unconscious.
