is that more a celebration of the fbi or is it a fair look at the fbi? well, it's not like the don whitehead classic, the fbi story, you know, kind of the all roses, no thorn sort of report. you think it's certainly more positive than a lot of the more piecemeal literature you see out there. but we wrote it on our 100th anniversary as kind of an explication of who we are and how we got there. so we talk about some of our problems. we talk about some of our warts. but overall, and this is, i think overall our story, it is one of strong service to the american people, you know, trying to protect our fellow americans and uphold the constitution. but i'm history shows we've fallen down on that and we have to learn from it. so it's certainly part of what i do in trying to explain ourselves both to our own people as well as to everybody else. what's your how do you explain j edgar hoover to a contemporary person? that's a tough one. sometimes. on the one hand, hoover took the bureau from an organization that was really mired in scandal in the day. and very qui

even defunding the fbi. there's not a lot of trust in the fbi on the republican side. that is a huge shift from a few years ago. before 2016, the notion that democrats would have more trust in the fbi than republicans would seem out of left field and not even believable. that's the scenario we are in. not a lot of trust in the fbi and the right-wing side of the h aisle. that is where we sort of stand today. i put out the statement from the fbi how they were now the lead agency, to see the a rhetoric coming in, here's where the cover-up begins. transparency is probably going to be the fbi's friend in this scenario, and putting out information as quickly as they can and not withholding information when there's no he reason to. there's a big question of how exactly, what that logistically will look like as we discussed before, how are they going to put this out? what form of this investigation going to come out? and because there will not be a trial, this is something that is a consideration on the table, typic
