i'm standing by the historic landmark, the covered bridge here in felton. beneath me the swollen san lorenzo river. now, we've got a break in the weather, but we've had occasional rain all day here in the mountains. photographer clyde powell and i, we drove around the mountains all day today and we saw a lot of road closures of course covered by the storms as well as a lot of anxious residents. in felton on highway 9, crews worked on removing trees which had toppled blocking the roadway. clearing the massive slide on highway 17 took priority then. today, the tired crews shifted their attention here. scattered along bear creek road in the santa cruz mountains were smaller slides and toppled trees. near boulder creek, the two-lane road was blocked, a culvert collapsed sunday night, sending part of one lane crashing down the mountain. steve richmond has lived up here with his horses for 42 years. across the street, henry cowell state park where the water was fast and furious. richmond never takes the river for granted. >> you can say, oh, it's not a problem. b

santa cruz mountains, there's a warning here with flooding expected right along the river there from felton and it will continue to trickle down into santa cruz. this goes until 10:30 this morning. if you don't have to go out, it's good to be indoors. inaddition to the wind blowing out there, the rain continues to fall, but it is pushing out. this is a three hour time lapse and you can see how it's shifting this direction. so in the next hour or so it will move out of the south bay and we will continue with just scattered showers the rest of today. there's where it is widespread from santa cruz into san jose. if we shift to the peninsula, we have a few sprinkles here reported, after 10:00 maybe right around the los altos hills. shifting east we've got steadily light rain alongside 80 continuing east towards tracy. antioch reporting light rain and over the north bay we've got advisories for napa and sonoma county. we've got a few sprinkles reported here as well. when i come back, i'll have a timeline on the rain today, a look at your numbers and we'll continue to track any possibility of flo

filling up and that's good news but in the santa cruz mountains we had the san lorenzo overflowed near felton so while we knew this was going to be a dare situation with this particular storm, everything started coming together yesterday around lunch hour where we started looking ahead towards the weekend and realizing it's going to be a serious situation here in the bay area with heavy rain perhaps up to 7" in many of our location and in san francisco. we're talking about up to 6 inches of rain. but that's the frontal boundary all that yellow and red that you're taking a look at slicing out of the north bay. you see the east bay still getting hammered around walnut creek, concord, clayton and walnut creek, san ramon valley into the tri-valley. san jose just some light rainfall there. you're being shielded by the santa cruz mountains. meanwhile, the peninsula plenty of rainfall and right there in san francisco, you see the rain drifting into daly city as far as pretty moderate to heavy rain. we have some pounding rain right now in santa cruz back through scotts valley and here's the deal. tak
