fetterman is holding. on again, where the votes are, missing you come in here, oz would have to really overperform, not to win the suburbs, but all the votes down here, oz would really need to amp it up in the suburbs. we don't see it yet, but that's why we count them. >> let's talk about fetterman for one second. i think a lot of people thought, first of all, ours had momentum going into the race, especially after the senate debate, where fetterman had difficulty. and also just that fetterman's stroke was going to really and his chances. one of the things i was talking to, a top democrat in pennsylvania, and he said, when fetterman ran in the primary, he had a strategy about rural votes. one of the ways he racked up his, he totally ran away with the primary, the democratic primary, he went 33 of the republican, of the rural counties, sorry, by more than 70%. we were talking about margins earlier in this, having to do with margins in georgia, in north carolina. i want you to look at three rural counties. w

it's not just fetterman.ple who question those who are fair and balanced the mental capacity of our president but you would never hear that on "the view post quote or any other mainstream media network. i want to bring up the debate between fetterman and oz, it's largely leaning toward crime in the way that fetterman treats crime. in the state of pennsylvania, the law says that prosecutors can bring a charge of felony murder. it's also known in the state's second-degree murder, it doesn't have to be somebody going out and intentionally killing 70. if you rob somebody and they fall a and the end of dying fro, you know, a fall for example. you would be charged with second-degree murder, mandatory life sentence. john fetterman is against mandatory life sentences. not only does the state not have the death penalty but if you commit murder, whether it's first-degree or second degree, you spend the rest of your life behind bars at the very least. john fetterman wants them back out. he wants murderers not to be mand

so, yeah, let's keep john fetterman in their. i think some of the advertisements against him were definitely phony, especially when it said he didn't work. he worked. he was a teacher, a mayor, lieutenant governor for eight years. he paid taxes. they say he didn't, but he had to pay taxes if he was getting payroll. host: thank you, caller. we want to clarify some issues. guest: talking about them it which questions of awes and -- oz and the way those things go. there has been attempts to cut john fetterman's working-class image. he was a mayor, $150 per month was his only salary pair his family supported him significantly in his 30's and deep into his 40's, basically prop him up financially, helped him purchase his home, pay his expenses. we don't have the exact extent of that because it was only disclosed for one year, considering a ballpark of about $50,000. we don't know if other years were more or less. that is the way republicans have tried to undercut him. as the caller said, john fetterman would argue that he was doing wor

obviously fetterman had a stroke and is primary.mpy debate october 25th with mehmet oz with both sides of the aisle questioned his fitness for office but he battled back after that and had the support of not only president biden but former president obama and like kathy hochul in new york, all of the luminaries from the democratic party trying to lift him up. he is now the next senator from the state of pennsylvania for the u.s. senate. >> he made his name as the mayor of braddock, very small town. a lot of divided response to how good a job he did as the mayor of braddock. there are a lot of shuttered storefronts in braddock and the population dropped dramatically in that town over the course of those years. we are talking about before we announced this, i think we are going to revisit the fact that there was very little public interface of these candidates. he had a stroke, obviously. very evident in this debate. people had been voting for over a month before they ever got a chance to see john fetterman on stage. but after that, t

you are seeing fetterman has to focus on that. host: what is the best way to understand that the senate races close by the governor -- governors race is a different story. guest: in statewide races like senate and governor races, it can be a bigger factor, particularly in governors races. a lot of times, these are little more divorced from their national outcome, and you have two states that elect red governors and red states that elect democratic governors, and that is not too uncommon. in a swing state like pennsylvania, make sense that someone like the attorney general, josh shapiro, would leading at this point. the republican candidate was not someone who they wanted -- it left all the candidates in a weak spot. doug mastriano was part of the january 6 insurrection, was involved in sending buses of trump supporters. most republicans have pretty much given up on that race. you do not see republicans actively spending there, which is a sign they do not believe mastriano is able to win. host: our first call comes from pennsylvani

oprah winfrey who helped make oz a star, is endorsing john fetterman. do you think it's a good idea to appear with him at this stage of the race? there are folks who are straight down the middle in firms of their politics. could this be a last-minute turnoff? >> well -- campaign i would have advised against. right now oz needs to win swing voters. president trump doesn't do a lot to help him there. so i would be against it. i know joe biden and barack obama today as well. i don't think the surrogates will make much of a different. he was clobbered in the midterms. he had a poor performance in 2014. joe biden is under water. the senate race will be decided -- it's very tight right now. and i think it's dead even, to be quite honest. it is an advantage to oz. after the debate that was disqualifying for fetterman, things have really moved. and particularly among college educated men are moving oz away from fetterman largely after that debate performance. the crime issue is effective, contrasting the votes between fetterman and shapiro. and that is really h

fetterman has not done that. there's a lot of concern about fetterman's capacity to serve right now. >> what's wrong with fetterman will heal. every day he's getting better. what's wrong with oz won't heal. he's been a snake oil salesman and abused his position for years. fetterman will get better and better, unfortunately oz will not. >> but the problem there, van, though, is fetterman has not explained his positions. he hasn't been able to articulate his positions on his evolution on the fracking issue, which is a huge issue in western pennsylvania. and frankly on the crime issue where he's voted opposite josh shapiro on the board of pardons over 200 times. and crime is a resonating issue, particularly in the philadelphia region right now. that's the other issue when you get beyond the health issues. this is really having an impact. these issues are resonating in pennsylvania. that's why this race has tightened so much. >> this is going to be the decision before voters, they've either already made or they'll be

the latest lawsuit comes from fetterman's campaign.ing so counties could include their vote tallies, mail-in votes with incorrect or missing dates. democrats tend to make up the majority of mail-in votes. state law says mail-in voters must write the date on the outside of the envelope. republicans have sued for counties to exclude ballots without dates or invalid dates. the state supreme court sided last week with the gop. now some counties are letting voters correct their ballots. >> the department of states position that voters that make minor errors on their ballots, if they forget to sign it, date it, they should go to their county, fix that issue and have a chance to have their vote counted. >> that's one of the counties here, allegheny where you can correct your vote. in lancaster, once your vote is in, it's over. john fetterman voted in person. we asked whether he thought democrats would withhold the senate. he did not with respond. allegheny county here, they have already scanned 130,000 ballots. for comparison, four years ago,

that was from john fetterman when cnn declared john fetterman to be the declared winner.talk more about john fetterman, how he won pennsylvania. listen, a lot of people counted him out after that debate but didn't seem to affect him. he won. >> no, it didn't. he seemed to won. >> he did seem to win. when we think of pennsylvania we think of the great lake battleground, we think of white voters without a college degree. when we look at the voters, it is in fact those white voters without a college degree. they make up 47% of all the voters in pennsylvania. there's this big question, could john featherman perhaps win back some of the white non-college educated voters. let's take a look at how they voted. what you see is you see that mehmet oz did in fact win among white voters without a college degree. it's just a 24 point margin. i can tell you that back in 2020 in pennsylvania donald trump carried white voters without a college degree by over 30 points. john fetterman's idea that i can shrink the margins seemed to work out. now, of course, there was also the question that
