we have team coverage of this spring snowstorm beginning with meteorologist elise finch tracking it in the weather center. >> we had such an incredibly mild winter. i know this is not what people were expecting for the first day of spring. alas, this is what we have. we're looking at snow on your vortex radar, and you can see we've got snow that is definitely making it to the ground and in some places sticking across long island. we're seeing that heavier snow traveling up the new jersey shore and across long island. those are the areas seeing the biggest snow totals when it's all said and done. it's not a major snow event but it is significant considering it's the first day of spring. here's a picture showing you what's going on and also that we're still seeing moisture moving up. the area of low pressure itself is just offshore, and will pass southeast of long island and result, we are going to see some winter weather alerts that are in effect that will remain morning. so monmouth and ocean counties are under a winter weather advisory, same for nassau, western and eastern suffolk. th
