we are not seeing much mixing of the air so a lot of it has to do with fireplaces, wood- burning stoves. so these are the rules. when there's a "spare the air" alert, no wood, fire logs, pallets in your fireplaces and using wood stoves or any other burning device is illegal for today and tomorrow. and then when that alert is lifted, you still have to burn clean fuel. so you still cannot burn garbage or leaves or things like that. as far as the winds are concerned, southern california of course they are still getting the santa ana winds because of this high pressure ridge. what's also happening this is interesting, we may get more of the smoke because the way this high pressure is just hanging right on the state, we'll start to see possibly the winds shift and if they go from the south to the north at all, then we will smell the smoke in the air. but for now, if you do see that haze, it's just because it's wintertime across the north bay. it's not smoke until you really actually smell it from the fires. national futurecast here across the great basin extremely dry and that's how it's goi
